They were literally the game changers in two competent even games. Competent our fault both times.'"
It’s hard to see the wood for the trees in this thread between genuine comments and ... others! Apologies
FWIW what lost Warrington the game was the decision making at 6-6 - I am still baffled and relieved at the kick through on the 2nd. Was convinced you were going to set up for the drop goal!

That was absolutely barmy.
We’d shifted the Saints line and created gaps, had Saints players out of position, had four tackles in the bank... and kicked it straight to a Saints player.
Infuriating!
Saints were much more composed (in both games) and that’s been the difference so far.

That’s the difference between Saints last year and this year. First thing I said after the game was we wouldn’t have won that last year.
But rather than focusing on the negatives - let’s leave it at it was probably the best game of rugby in the UK since the playoff Semi in Cas in 2017

It was certainly an intense and captivating spectacle.
Saints were better than us tonight, but less better than April
....(a bit like last year!)

Presumably you disagree about us going down to 12 men so it looks as though once you master reading you will have to start on numbers
Have a few lessons then try this brain mangler... 13 - 1
Just to clarify, We can only beat you when you are down to 12 players?

| Didn’t see the game live but just finished watching it now. My unbiased view as best I can give it after far too much ale
Warrington looked good and were the better team early on. Saints worked out that they could win if they stayed in the game til late on! The sin binning of Hughes and rightly so turned the game as did the forward pass! King Goodwin Patton Philbin Hughes and Currie aren’t good enough if Warrington want to challenge. Saints are currently a long way ahead of Warrington

This.
I hope this is part of some master plan to get us to peak at the right time. The defencive intensity and line speed in the first 40 was great and we bossed them some big hits and we were bossing the game we did not take our chances early on and opting for two effectively was a gamble that we could park the bus so to speak.
Agreed on players barring Goodwin he has played well since announced departure. Tasi can be added to the list also. Price is a year behind Holbrook but the next lot of signings are going to be really important I think we need two good props who you could argue should start. Watts And pauli pauli would be my first choice. Second row kenny Edwards at catalans and Joe greenwood maybe deal to let them have currie?? I think that along with widdop and either one of gelling or Gildart I think we would have a shout and be over cap lol

| We were a man lighter in the front row than they seemed. Whether that’s in numbers or just size or just being coached to run from deeper so you’re getting to the line faster... but I think we need a quality prop as priority this Winter.

Agreed, apologies for that comment. I hope you got home safely AS108.
I do hope you dropped your kebab after one bite though.

| Watching the game back last night, the sin binning was pivotal.
First, it was the correct decision. But in a match played at bewildering pace and in punishing conditions defending against saints with 12 men for 10 minutes must have been incredibly tough going.
I don't buy all this, their pack owned us they came out second half firing etc. Up to the hour mark they were struggling to get out of their half. After Hughes returned, Walmsley and Thompson ate up the yards against an exhausted defence.
The real problem remains the halves. Dominance has to be turned into points and at the moment we seem to be lacking the confidence that we can do it.

| They actually started to get on top when knowles got put to hooker in the 2nd half, there was a noticeable shift, then as we all know they scored from an embarrassing forward pass.
A few points from me, 1 lama tasi should never play for us again, id rather have an inexperienced 16 yr old from the academy playing.
2nd wtf was that penalty against jason ckark for passing the ball out of thr tackle? No one was on him when he hit the floor, the arm was up when they did get to iim, he's allowed to offload it, even if he's not, the refs dont penalise that any more, its get the ball back and play it, another iffy refereeing point.

| Well looks like Ashley Klein is the Aussie version of Thaler watching the Knights match.
Disappointed by the end result last night. Saints on top for a lot of the match and we struggled with go-forward.
Having said that, our defence was very solid in the first half.
Key moments -
Hughes sin bin was pivotal - just don't understand what the **** he was trying to do. (Not seen much criticism here regarding this)
Pass to Percival was made before the line and was a received at least a meter in front. Is it true that a forward pass only depends on the angle of the deliverers hands?
Patrons decision to kick on the 2nd. Should have played out the set with option of a drop attempt or kick.
Philbin poor play the ball.
I know people are saying Austin went missing and that's true but that'll always be the case when we only have a couple of game changers on the park. So fair play to Saints - they got their tactics right.
Half of me is pleased we put up a good fight but it confirmed my view about Saints being well ahead of the rest.

I'm with you on this and of course we have a decent half back coming in next season.
How I wish we had gone for Jackson Hastings. He is exactly what is required. He makes space for others. If Wigan get him it will make 'em dangerous.

| FMC - I thought Tasi put some decent tackles in to be honest, but not so much go forward.
I'd have thought the better option for SP was to have Bennie on the bench (if he could control the pens....)
