I'm not saying you have, but I'm sure there have been countless others on here who have derided what they call 'chavs' for wearing certain brands of clothing before, so this is nothing new.
Predictions for Saturday? I'm talking about smartest fans by the way, come on Wire fans don't let us down.

| I'm quite amazed by how much people care about what others are wearing. One of the things I loved about the town was how much people put everything else aside when getting behind the team - I got plenty of abuse normally but with one of my Warrington shirts on it stopped completely, even if the rest of my clothes were still the same.

I'm taking a guess here, but I'm assuming you're a metalhead if that's the case. If so then you are exempt in my opinion (speaking as an alternative music fan myself) because dressing according to personal influences and interests is not the same as dressing like a tramp.
Wearing Dunlop trackies is dressing like a tramp.
Hope that helps.

I am but I don't dress like that any more, even that was too much bother about the right clothes. Now I just wear whatever, jeans and t-shirt, as long as I don't look stupid it's fine. I have no problem with people taking care of their appearance (and I can't stand the stereotype that men are supposed to not care), it's just the branding I don't get. *shrug*

Can't see the irony in this comment so you'll have to explain it to me. In any case I'm sorry for assuming you're from Yorkshire, that's quite the insult so I apologise.
Not sure who said you were a 'chav'. BTW I don't know how long you've been away for, but in the North West we prefer to use the term 'scally'.

| People who follow fashion and like being 'trendy', follow the flock, like sheep. They are prayed upon by the marketing and advertising men to spend over the odds for the label. Chavs/scallies fall for it - they have no self belief.
Think before you act, think for yourself, dont follow others.
p.s. There's not that much wrong with Yorkies, but I have to admit, the stereotypical image of them being tight fisted is well deserved. Oh and there belief that everything Yorkshire is best is hilarious

I totally agree and apologise, both your irony and the Lost in your user name were in fact lost on me

What about people who just like decent clothes because of the superior fabric quality, fit, design etc. Why does everything have to be black and white for some on here? I'm not a dedicated follower of fashion, just don't like wearing shi'ite clothes.
And I'm quite capable of thinking for myself thank you. If someone buys an iPhone for example, are they being prayed on by marketing men or just buying a superior product.
Lived in Leeds for myself for a while, and the city itself is decent but just seems a bit behind the times compared to Liverpool and Manchester. Yorkshire people aren't that bad either, but I know what you mean as soon as the sun comes out, the tea bags go up on the washing lines.

Yeah, it isn't black & white, it's more about striking a balance, and what you are prepared to do or pay. I think some people fall for the advertising and the hype for pretty much every market, but others are just happy to pay that much for that quality and that name.
I personally think iPhones are massively overpriced - better quality than most other smartphones as far as I can tell (not having one at all), but not enough to justify the price hike, just like Apple's other products - but other people are happy to pay that extra for the name, and that's their decision. Like my post about brands earlier, I don't really get it myself as the brand just isn't that improtant to me, but that's just my opinion and who am I to dictate how other people should spend their money?
I do like living in Leeds though, to me it has a friendlier feel than Liverpool or Manchester, and the big local RL support is good for conversation and banter.

| What exactly constitutes "following fashion"?
From walking round the streets I would say G-Star, Henley's and Hollister are all quite popular "labels" at the moment, and quite frankly I'd rather wear a Dunlop tracky than any of that.
