24554.jpg The Wire - It's Time To Believe
When things go wrong, as they sometimes will.
When the road you're trudging seems all up hill,
When the funds are low, and the debts are high,
And you want to smile, but you have to sigh,
When care is pressing you down a bit,
Rest if you must, but don't you quit.
Life is queer with the twists and turns,
AS everyone of us sometimes learns,
And many a failure turns about,
When he might have won had he stuck it out:
Don't give up through the pace seems slow.
You may succeed with another blow.
Success is failure turned inside out,
The silver tint of the clouds of doubt,
And you never can tell how close you are,
It may be near when it seems so far;
So stick to the fight when you're hardest hit,
It's when things seem worse,
that you must not quit.
NOW THE WIRE!:24554.jpg |

| 3 new players, a week in the sun and two weeks with Andrew johns AND a full off season with Mr Smith. Just came away from the game thinking, my god we looked exactly like last year, Don't seem to have much problem getting to there line, but void of ideas when we get there.
Myler for me has a lot to prove if he's going to justify the money and time invested in him, last night Sam Tomkins for me was better
in both skill and intensity. Sorry if people have a problem with it but I'm defiantly in the he's had enough time to fit in, he needs to start the season running not the oh he's new give him a few months to fit in rubbish.
Thought Matt King put a lot of work in last night and of course Mr Morley was his usual good self, also thought that Chris Bridge looks dangerous every time he got the ball he's a very dangerous runner for me.
Apart from that left very underwhelmed, but I'm sure come the 7th they will be firing on all cylinders (mmmmm)

| The Jon Clarke haters a few rows below us in the South Stand were pretty quiet. That was quite a blessing. Didn't hear them boo once. That will all change when he's back to full fitness though.
Tossers.

Myler needs time to bed I said this last night Briers has been the main leader for us in attack for years and now he has to share that work load and let Myler take control as well, if you listen to the interview with Briers from last week he even says more or less they haven't clicked yet and they need to work on it.

| Subsitutetastic mistakeathon, I don't see why people are feeling down about the result. The players must have struggled to know who was inside and outside from each other from one minute to the next (wigan passed to a player wanting to come on presumably thinking he was on his outside).
In Tomkins Wigan have a real gamebreaker.

I understand what your saying and to a certain extent your right, but he got pummelled last night and it will be even worse for him when the season starts, I just think before we know it we will be a couple of months in and he could be In bad shape if he doesn't as I say start the season running, I'm under no illusion the boys got talent, but if he doesn't start showing it from the beginning, we could have the same scenario as Mr Penny, started getting picked on, was under prepared and lost all his confidence in himself.
Myler does seem to talk a good game I just fear it could go either way.
I shall be there cheering him on on the seventh and wishing him and the team all the best. its just a worry.

| I didn't go but I think it's ludicrous that one or two people have basically written our season off based on a friendly performance. I pay little attention to them but even in competitive games how often do you see the odd surprise result in the first month of the season? Players are cold and out of practise having not played competitively for so long and it happens.
Wigan are a side, along with ourselves, who are widely tipped for a big season and from what I've read on here it sounds like last night was a good well contested match which is exactly what we needed. The result means nothing whatsoever.

If that happens then we as fans need to get behind him he's only 19 and moves here to a new club under a massive price tag and with the pressure that brings, the lads got the talent there is no doubt about it, we just have to give him time scoring 4 on debut was prob the worst thing he could of done as it builds the pressure on him, for me he needs time to get it right with Briers and am sure Smith will be working on that in the next week and a half.

| ffs the focus of the pre-season was not focused on this game it will be on the first competitive fixture. There may be a few concerns about the performance but certainly not the result which means [inothing[/i. I bet Smith is grateful that he has got something to work with and tune up in the next week.

| was i the only one that was impreseed by mylers attitude? he was bossin the team around and even giving out a few bollockings, at a twenty metre restart at the very end of the 1st half i thought he was gonna explode he screamed at the team so hard for ppl just standing around and not getting set! he was supporting well and providing a second phase option but did anyone really expect us to start showing planned moves in a friendly?
