And again you're wrong, it's been man of Steel long before Sky came along. So you should be praising the RFL for standing up to the big bad man murdoch and his 'Americanisms', despite being Australian.'"
I didn't say that it was a Sky idea, I said that even though the award effectively changed from MoS to players player of the year they kept the name as its more promotable.
When the players vote do you think they say "which player has been the best" or "which player has had the biggest impact"
Surely they are the same?!

of course its the same thing.... someone else seems to think its a totally different thing though.
Quote inside_man="Wire In The Final"No it doesn't the man of steel award goes to the person who is judged to have made the biggest impact on the season. Not 'best player award' at all.'"
see its not the best player award at all.... silly me.

| say next season salford play wigan in the second game... then vinnie anderson goes onto break the legs (legally of course) of the tomkins brothers, finch, richards, gleeson and lima... all these players then miss the rest of the season... wigan then go onto finish 9th and miss out on the playoffs.....
vinnie's tackling would have decimated wigans team leaving the team that had previously finished 1st nowhere......so would vinnie anderson win MOS for having the biggest impact on the season? or would it go to the best player?

So would I, never be able to believe Anderson could catch Tomkins otherwise.

'man of steel' indicates the player with the most steel... And to say hodgson has more steel than graham or Morley is inncorrect in my opinion.

I wouldn't say there was any difference in hardness between Hodgson and those two.
When he was in the NRL he was always getting the tag "toughest player in league", I can remember that being said on stuff like the Footy Show for years, Benji Marshall said it when Hodgson left the Tigers. Before he came to England if someone had said to me who is Brett Hodgson, the first phrase that would come to mind was toughest player in the NRL....
