| my grandads mate works for warrington wolves and apparently only half of briers salary is declared on the cap due to his 10 year service within the club; also youth players also only need to have a lower percentage of salary declared to encourage youth progression in the super league
some of the players in the club are paid less on a contract than originally estimated, but bonuses do not go on the salary cap so are paid by the club at the end of the season and is a tactic warrington have used since simon moran found the hole in the rfl rules. Matt king was originally estimated to be earning 300,000 a year but is actually around a third of this but the club put 200,000 of bonuses to him during the off-season which do not declare under the salary cap; saint helens have been using this for a number of years

| On the Briers thing.
If Briers is on £100K or more only an allowance of £50K is made against the cap.
So,
If he is on £120K then only £70K is counted against the cap.
If however he is on less than £100K then 50% is deductable against the cap.
So if he is on £80K then only £40K is counted against the cap.
Only one player per club is allowed, and they must have served 10 years at the club.

| Quote: Mike Carlton's Grandad "One way to get rid of them Mike is to tell 'em stories that dont go anywhere. Like the time we went over to shelbyville during the war, I wore an onion on my belt....which was the style at the time...you couldnt get those white ones, you could only get those big yellow ones.................now where was I........oh yeah, the important thing was I was wearing an onion on my belt, which was the style at the time, you couldnt get those... Now where's my card. Ok, I'm an elk, a communist, the president of the gay and lesbian comittee for some reason
The year was nineteen ought six. The President is the divine Miss Sarah Burnheart and all over America people were doing a dance called the Funky Grandad,'"

| Highest paid player in Salfords history doesn't necessiarily mean he was offered mega bucks. I don't imagine Salford have ever operated at full salary cap, so he could have been offered £100k,which may be higher than any Salford player is on, but it would just put him in line with some of our players and below others.
