| Since Agar took over at Leeds, Leeds have won 9 and lost 8 in SL
Over that time period, Wire have won 7 and lost 13 in SL
It would be hard to make an argument that Agar has had a better squad to work with at Leeds than we have here.
I wonder if its time to revise our theory on Agar being the root cause of our malaise.

Agar sing a fine job with us. We'll redirected by the players and tactically honest and sound. The word 'scapegoat' springs to mind......

If you're happy with Agar as your coach, that's fine with me. However, he wouldn't be the man I'd want to take over from Steve Price.

| Now since Agar took over at Leeds, the comparison is:
Price won 7 lost 14
Agar won 11 lost 8

| As Head coach at Hull he lost more games than he won.. He never won a trophy
As Head coach at Wakey he lost more games than he won... He never won A trophy.
As Head coach of France he lost more games than he won... He never won a trophy....
I fancy his final record with Leeds will be similar... Despite Leeds being a stronger club with a shrewd CEO...
But I don't see Agar as top coach he never coached in the NRL despite goung over there to do that. he ended up doing some player recruitment role and soon came back...
Personally I think hes way too poor for Leeds but that suits me fine.

| I think he'll end up winning more games than he loses at Leeds. Trophy...who knows.
Tony Smith's record at Huddersfield or Hull KR, or Brian McDermott's record at Harlequins and Toronto, aren't a good predictor of their records with Leeds.
He seems to be doing a decent job with the calibre of player available in Leeds at the moment.

But Agar was in charge at Hull FC. They cannot be considered alongside Harlequins and Toronto when excusing his results.
Anyhow what case are you arguing that maybe all our problems weren't down to Agar? I think that is clear now but I still don't think we have let a misunderstood coaching genius slip through our fingers - do you?

| Well Agar being appointed at Leeds does prompt some questions.
If we had appointed him, we would have said typical Wire mediocrity, we lack big club mentality....could you imagine serial winners like Saints or Wigan making an appointment like that?
So why have Leeds appointed him?
It could be a stark symptom of how bare the coaching cupboard is and how hard it is to get a good coach in.
Or it could be that Gary Hetherington has seen something in Agar. He's made strange appointments before.
He appointed Daryl Powell coach straight after retiring as a player which raised eyebrows. Powell ended up being a good coach, although mostly after his Leeds spell.
He appointed Brian McDermott, when his record with London had been so-so.
Also Tony Smith at the time Hetherington picked him up, was not a surefire thing, he'd been relegated, promoted, and had a season finishing 9th in SL.
I guess we will see how things turn out over time. One thing Hetherington is willing to do is move on from his bad calls quickly when he realises he's made a mistake, eg Dean Lance and David Furner.

I see. Bit of a mixed bag with Hetherington, but yes he doesn't need to wait for the train wreck when he sees the club is off course.
Dean Lance - 86 games. Didn't win anything but still posted a 64% win ratio - sacked
Daryl Powell - 59 games. Didn't work out and made director of Rugby 58% win ratio.
Tony Smith - Success.
Brian McDermott - Success.
David Furner - 15 games. Didn't work out 33% win ratio - sacked
Agar ... TBD
Our chump (league) P62 W35 L26 D1 56% still in post.
