My point lies with Sam from the fullback position was able to have a massive effect on the result (2nd in the HS voting), whereas Wellens was solid yet unspectacular.
You look at some of the best NRL fullbacks (Slater, Hayne, Dugan etc) one of there main aspects of there game is there pace. Sam shares this quality. Sorry to use a Wigan example again but at the start of the season Amos Roberts was rippin up SL playing fullback with his pace and elusiveness.
The modern day full back IMO needs to have pace, as they chime into the line as a 3rd half therefore having loads of space to use.
Therefore I think Sam is one of, if not the best fullback in superleague. Even after only playing 12 or so games at the position
