My current favourite would be Robinson. I think he would complement our squad, and is likely to be hungry for success. We could probably offer him considerabley more than he is on currently, and still have change, and a quota spot, from the money we would have paid Johns. Is it worth discussing a deal with Salford for Robinson now? If Salford go down he becomes a free agent anyway and Salford get nothing, at least if we bought him now, then loaned him back for the remainder of the season Salford get some compensation. They could stay up then lose Robinson, but that would be the gamble Salford would be taking for the money now!
Use the money saved to help entice Buderus to SL.'"
Spot on.
I would like to see Robinson replace Long at Saints in the next year or so. He is a quality player

A quick question, do you get out much ? Only someone that doesn`t get out much would go onto another teams forum and go on so much about the way a thread is worded. The majority of Warrington fans knew what the thread meant as Andrew Johns was the number 1 target for us next year, the thread is about who we should target to replace our original target who has had to retire through injury hence replace him with another target.
You knew that anyway, you really must be so bored to rabbit on all afternoon like you have done about something so trivial.

Silly me sat on my work computer getting paid lots of money for writing on here.
As for your other point, it wasnt trivial or pedantic. You cant replace something that you dont have. Thats not picking the bones out of something, its the plain and simple truth and something that numerous Wires fans on this thread have agreed with. Had I not been a Saints fan, and had a username like Wirefan 30 then practically everyone on here would have agreed with me.
Anyway, back on topic Warrington would have been idiotic to sign him even if he wasnt injured. Briers is a class act and Bridge should be given the chance to develop. The single biggest improvement that Wire can make IMO is at Hooker. If you have vast amounts of cash and cap space spare I would be looking at getting a great number 9 in.

IMO Bridge, Clarke and Anderson are all adequate cover in the half back role, but none of them are genuine full time half backs.
My current favourite would be Robinson. I think he would complement our squad, and is likely to be hungry for success. Agreed. But if Saints are after him we will struggle unless we offer quite a few bob. Id love to see him in the P&B.

| From Australia - Dobson, or Orford (yes he's contracted)
From Uk - Mark Mclinden could be a good bet, cheap but very good quality, Dont think robinson or Rooney would be good ideas really.

I agree with Mclinden, I said it 2 pages ago, although he won't come cheap. He'll be on a decent wage at Quins.

| I take it Warrington don't rate Bridge now then?
I seem to recall a lot of Wire fans at the time telling us we would live to regret letting him go!
We should never have let Pryce go.. but Bridge was only ever an average player IMO.

He's quality, In my opinion has all the ingrediants to play at a very high level, unfortunately we can't keep him fit. His upper body strength is immense and he's always a handful. There's never a chance to really form an opinion on him of any strength as he's seemingly injured frequently.
I'm not sure wether he's a centre or standoff but one thing is for sure, if they can get him consistently fit and work out why he keeps getting these niggles we'd have one hell of a player on our hands.
Not many Warrington fans doubt his ability, more his injury record and lack of creativity. Which suggests to many Centre is the way forward for him in 2008.

Which is why I wonder whether it is worth making a take it or leave it offer to Salford now. The offer would have to be above market value in order to be tempting to Salford. IF, and I appreciate it is a huge IF, Salford Chairman/Directors accepted an offer, then it would be upto the club to agree terms with Robinson. He may feel a guaranteed move to Warrington next season with a better salary than he is on currently may be better than a possible move to Saints, or remaining at Salford. 'A bird in the hand....'

He can
Its a not very subtle way of pretending to be in the know, without actually knowing anything. If something is announced he looks good. If nothing happens he will just spout some guff about the deal falling through due to personal terms / injury etc...

By your own admission Johns was as much a certainty as it could be without a signed contract. This topic is to discuss potential halfbacks for next season, let us not forget Sullivan is out of contract and he was signed as a half back.
