We've always had one absolute belter. However the other side of the field has always had the clearly inferior winger on it. Today we have two almost perfect wingers week in week out.

| It’s that time of the season, where two points are two points. Wire did enough yesterday to keep Saints at bay. Who in my opinion were absolutely gash, too many individuals look band average players. Walmsley fantastic player he was, it’s now time he looked to move off the playing field. As most have said the two yellow cards were diabolical, both players Drinkwater and Ritson want to hang their heads in shame. Bateman looked very good his defensive game was solid but he was making some very good lines, in his attacking running game. Overall going to to play off rugby, Wire are looking in pretty good shape.

| Without wanting to go all 'coach speak', I thought it was interesting that we spent the last ten minutes more interested in being solid as a rock defensively, and enjoying really crunching Saints (fairly) when they tried to mount an attack, than we did in trying to pile on points. I would never want us to go full 'Huddersfield in the 2022 cup final', where they got a small lead and then stopped trying to score, but it can be a good attribute once you've got the game won (as we had at 16-2).

| It was a good win. Defensively we have looked really solid in the last few weeks. Apart from the dip in form after the Saints and Wigan game and then playing with 12 against Leigh and Saints we are only conceding single figures.
Bit of a worry with Fitzgibbon. He went off in the first half and was showered and changed by full time. Any news on him?
It is a bit of a shame that we didn't manage to stick another 2 or 3 tries on Saints just to put a little bit more pressure on Hull KR. I can't see them losing both of their 2 remaining games and even if they loose 1 we would have to make up about 60 points so now looks like a home play off game and if we win that then an away game at Craven Park. But you never know because both of their last 2 games are against teams desperate to get in the top 6.
Like Ben Currie said in his interview no trophies for beating Saints 3 times in a season but it is an amazing reversal of fortunes from the last couple of years.

| Play-off rugby is where intensity lifts and the defence comes to the fore.
Lower scoring games, and defence wins.
I like everything Sam and his support have gone about our season. Minus the huge blip at Wembley and the after effects. Also the fatigue blip vs KR at home.
Constantly evolving and building to shape for one thing, which Sam won’t say.
None of the top 3 will have an easier chance to win a GF, however all 3 are in a different mini league to the rest, who are playing it out for place money. Imo.
This is a type of team I don’t think I’ve ever seen at Warrington before. No ‘bad apples’ no player egos. Grit and endurance that typically isn’t the Warrington thing..,,
And I love it.

| Looks like saints took a few injuries yesterday,
Walmsley limped off, lees slumped off, welsby went off, he didn't look good at all and was avoiding contact, though they may have been managing him.
Robertson also went off

Must admit, I questioned him over the Powell era. All too often we conceded late in halves and often fell away at the back end of games. Turns out either there has been a change in strength and conditioning, or this is simply an effect of a good coach and good environment.
Similarly, there were a lot of gripes about Marshall, but our defence is as a good as I’ve ever seen in 30+ years of watching.

People knee jerking, having to blame someone, with no idea of whether it's a thing or not.
I don't think anyone can have a pop at him and the sc team sinc he joined in 2018.

| I wonder if Welsby was actually brought off because of that pathetic tackle celebration like he'd just won the game

Welsby annoys me as much as he annoys any Wire fan, because he plays for Saints, and is one of those whiny little puppy players who things don't go his way.
However, he's about as competitive as they come and currently the only Saints player that goes against the negative Wellens aura that surrounds the entire team. He'd be amazing playing under Burgess. Not sure where he'd fit in though, as we need a controlling half to complement Williams.
The celebration looked a little out of place for the team, but I can understand why he was so happy on a personal level. Textbook tackle.
