| Quote: lefty goldblatt "An open question
I never got to see his few games for us in 2017, due to a holiday and other match day commitments.
Whenever I saw him in NRL games, he was knocking on, making mistakes, doing nothing out of the ordinary
I've seen him a couple of times this season.
Just WTF does Peta Hiku do to warrant attention. I'm genuinely mystified'"
Hiku and Pomeroy came in at a time when we weren't great and to be fair to Peta, he had a mid air step and the ability to cut through the line or draw and pass. I didn't see much of him in the NRL but I'm glad we've not signed him now.
Pomeroy had massive guns

| Can't remember the last time we kicked on the third or fourth and actually SCORED. Normally if Drinky or even Williams kicks early, it just turns the ball over aimlessly. Was it Hayes who put that kick through for the nice try?

| There are a number of good contributions in this thread.
For me - that match could have gone either way. They bombed 2 or 3 tries, tore us apart on the rhs, had mom in Mikey Lewis.
91% completion rate - encouraging.
Burgess seems to have introduced an element of resilience and there's every indication that'll grow. We'd have lost that game in the previous 4 or 5 years. That's the single most important thing for me.
The debate about goal kicking and whether/how we should use Ratch will continue for quite some time. Clearly that could have cost us tonight.
Our rhs is clearly a weak point at the moment but it needs to be given time and I'd rather that be now than later. Less errors by Josh this game and some good runs out of defence. Connor took his try extremely well. Thought Holroyd had his best game for us, but needs time.
I really like Currie at LF, and seeing him generally more involved.
Dufty our best player - involved in some lovely stuff.
Can't say that any player had a 'bad' game.
When the tide turned against us we struggled to wrestle it back.
We shaded the 1st half, they more than shaded tne 2nd
Entertaining game.

| Hull KR bombed quite a few chances so on any other night they would take the 2 points.
There were quite a few moments when I thought Hull KR would open us up and they would start to run away with it and I think that would have happened over the previous 4 years. However the team stuck at it and didn't cave in.
We have been fragile / flakey over recent years and I see signs that we have a bit more about us.
I am pretty sure Holroyd has played almost the full 80 mins in the last 2 games. I was a bit worried at times considering that edge with Thewlis, Wrench and Holroyd was defending against Lewis, Gildart and Hall but fair play to them,
It certainly feels like there is a definite plan to give game time to the likes of Holroyd and Max wood etc to give them that exposure and the bonus is that they are learning whilst we are picking up 2 points.
I had almost written off Dufty towards the end of last year but the coaches have done a remarkable job with him and the game plans around him so far and we have not played on a decent pitch yet.

I find Cooke knows his stuff.
Wilkin just hates Wire and is a KR fan.

| Anyone who says mikey Lewis was superb wants their head testing! Tyrone may ran everything for Hull kr tonight. He was man of the match tonight and didn't deserve to be on the losing side.

| Not sure what’s been said before but praise must go to Holroyd (and Burgess)…he’s not pulling up trees at the minute but he’s doing ok and for a man his age in that position that’s pretty good going.
Fitzgibbon and Harrison are wonderful…loving the fact that Fitzgibbon has a bit of needle to his game as well which I didn’t expect.

Wilkin is just bumming Kr & Saints all the time . Surely he must be removed from our screens. He just completely ruins the whole experience of our entertainment with his biased views.

Every day of the week, much better defender, much more skilled and a good rugby brain.
If he didn't pick up a knock last week i think he would have played tonight.

| I’ll accept that Hull KR missed a few of chances, but I will caveat that with a very grown up “so what”.
The Bachelor missed chance is a try for all money but for a bit of desperation from Fitzgibbon, and a superb mega tackle from King. Without both of them busting a gut and doing their bit, that’s a try. But I’d say it’s half bombed and half saved.
The one off the Lewis break, think it was Litten who dropped it, if you look back it’s Williams that missed Lewis, but he somehow managed to track back and get in the eye line. Without that, Lewis is a 2 or 3 on 1 with Dufty. Dufty did really well to stall him, but the credit is to Williams just to put some doubt and anxiety in them.
Those chances don’t get missed by accident, yes we messed up on both, but we did just enough to turn certain tries into contests. It’s a win for effort, but we took our chances well too. It’s a great win, and a good chance to back it up next week

Ratchford doesn't finish that Dufty break off

| What is pleasing is we would have lost that game on the prior 3 or 4 seasons

I think we’d look better with Ratchford in there, both for defence and goal kicking. However Wrench needs a run of games in the team, he’s 22 now and been in and out of the team over the years with injury, he’ll only get better if we play him - it’s what Saints / Wigan would do.
Wrench also is not the only part of that defensive edge, Holroyd is less experienced again, he’s doing alright, but we’d look better with Currie / Nicholson in there.
Wrench should keep his place vs London, let’s see if he can improve, after London we have cup, Catalan, Leeds, Leigh and Salford - all difficult games..
Defending on the right is more difficult as teams tend to attack left, King defended well on the right for Wigan and Wrench is a better attacking threat to King - maybe the answer is to switch them around?

| On goal kicking, am I right in thinking Hayes kicked for the academy? How was he there generally? He seemed to be rushing his kicks last night and didn’t seem too relaxed while taking them. Maybe he just needs time and practice of kicking in a SL environment

| Really looks like Gleeson is having an impact. He was clearly behind getting Dufty more involved last season and that has kicked in this season.
The last try was a well thought out and really well executed move.
Hayes run round the back and Dufty joining in the line not next to Hayes but 1 along.
In general the ptb seems a lot cleaner this season for most teams. Lewis managed to con the ref by moving forward for one penalty but for the most part the ref got most things right.
