| Quote: Wolf Hall "I remember the concerns of various people that whilst he was a dominant player at Bradford, would he be able to do the same consistently in Superleague. I'm sure the same comments were made when he signed for Canberra.
He was able to prove he could.
Belief and commitment are important attributes for players, many players with the build and skills don't make it whilst others less blessed do. What I have seen of Longstaff at Warrington and now Hull I believe he is well worth the club continuing to invest in him. He provides something different which is important in a squad. You seem to disagree, that's OK.'"
How much of him have you seen at hull?

everyone was bad to be fair, he made 2 hitups and 5 metres.
I think he has potential but don't think he is ready for regular SL Yet, mainly down to his size.
Not sure we have the time and coach to develop him, probably better at a club like Wigan or Saints who can integrate him slowly, we need him to be a first 17 player now.

I know this isn't aimed at me, but I've seen him play in ever game, keen eye for a shirt kick, but defence and attack is way off.

Seen him on TV, highlights etc, can't give you a schedule of my watching / viewing experience. Saw him a lot at Warrington of course when he played.
How often have you seen him?
Like I said, we have differing opinions of a young man trying to make his way in the game, I think he has potential, you don't, that's OK, I can live with that.

| With regard to Longstaff's size. From the info on the clubs websites it would seem that, at 6ft, he's the same height as Jason Clark, John Batenam and Liam Farell. Whilst he's shorter than Currie and Hughes (6'3" and 6'2" respectively) he's an inch taller than Oliver Holmes. The problem is that he's between 1 and 2 stone lighter than any of these guys.

He's just turned 20, plenty of time to develop given the right exercise and diet.

| What's this obsession with size? Sammy kibula was bloody huge! It's no good without any ability. I'ts no secret I'm a fan of longstaff, but its obvious Powell isn't keen and I think his future will lay elsewhere. I just think that given the 'performances' of our second rowers this season he should've been given more of a run in the side.

| Interesting this debate. Because of the general hype about him I chose to watch him very closely vs. Catalan (A). I watched the game twice. My view at the time was that he was really struggling to take it up & in defence against the big boys. I don't think he has played much since.

| He's a player that could turn in to a great player once he fills out a bit, but that should naturally come with age anyway. I can't see him breaking in to our first team next year to be honest, snd can see a season long loan happening or us just letting him go from his last year to sign elsewhere.

| Given the average of our pack next season, we should be retaining Longataff.
Send him.out on a season long loan to allow him to develop, but in two years, when Kasiano etc. have cashed the cheques and gone home he should be a lynchpin of the backrow.

Longstaff only has 1 season more on his current contract.
Unless we can guarantee him regular 1st team selection, I will surprised if he elects to sign a new contract with us, even if we offer him one.
I too would like to retain Longstaff, but I am beginning to doubt whether we will.

Clearly the club feel Nicholson, Holroyd and Whitehead are better options for one reason or another.

| Sounds like Hodgson is keen to bring Longstaff to Hull.
Looking at your backrow options for next season, I can't see Powell selecting Longstaff in from on Currie, Holmes and McGuire. Plus Nicholson etc coming through.
He's probably git a quicker route to first grade here at Hull.
I'd imagine you'd release him from his final year to take up a deal with us. (Hopefully)

| Yeah more than likely, it's a really weird one and just screams Powell doesn't like him.
