| Great game. Shame to lose but the defence was outstanding When you think one of their tries was the most bizarre I think I have ever seen.
Full Back is a real question mark now. Thewlis is clearly the future, but Widdop did a fantastic job I thought. Ratchford has been one of my favourite players but he may well be competing with Williams for a halfback spot at this rate.
Fantastic that we now have some serious young speedsters in the team. Connor Wrench standing up Lomax was pure class.
In summary the glass is approaching half full.

| Realised tonight watching the match how little I’d enjoyed watching us for the last few years. Tonight felt a bit different, loved the effort, just lacked a little composure and execution

| Brilliant spectacle. Last ditch defence was such a great sight to see after folding like paper plates all season. Wrench and Ashton chasing down their opposites and catching them, great effort.
The inventiveness and creativity was there in large parts too and with a little more clinicality we'd have put Ashton away, or a kick for Williams to chase at the death. We still just suffered in the middle as usual, chunks of that game where we battled 25 metres forward in a whole set of six.
Wrench and Widdop fantastic. Most were.

| Well that was much better, shame wrench didn't either take the tackle or manage to get the pass away at the end but it has to be said it was excellent defence from makinson. Wrench was great tonight, they all were really, what a shame we totally messed up our own scrum to gift them their first try. Widdop was excellent at fullback too, one of his best wire displays.
More of that please wire, I'm happy with performances like that and the results will surely come off the back of them. I hope we can bring in a big lad for this season to give us a but more go forward. The saints defence is terrific and very well drilled but even so we still struggle too much to make ground.

| a 1 year contract extension is that it? What's his current contract does anyone know?
Mulhern needs to be re-signed.
That's the best i've seen Philbin play for a long time, if he can keep that up it will do us much better in the games to come.
Oh and Widdop needs to stay at fullback for me if he keeps that up, absolutely brilliant game from him. The speed we have on the field in Ashton, Wrench,Williams and Widdop is superb.
Throwing the ball from wing to wing seems to work really well for us. If we keep that up against other teams we'll win a fair few more games this season.

I think both he and Ashton have made breaks this season that they will convert to points as they gain experiance. I think wrench sees the best route to the line better than Ashton who maybe needs to look at the angle he takes or arching his run a little to create further distance between him n defender.
However a great performance tonight from the whole team one we can build off hopefully, play like that for the next 4/5 games and we can start talking about turning the corner, Leeds is the perfect game to come back to.
Who will play fullback is the next question ? Have we had a Gareth O'Brien moment in moving him to full back where he looks a completely different player? Does this mean more game time for dean and maybe less for thewlis? Do we change from tonight's team much for Leeds ?

| I felt so sorry for wrench at the end of the game, no idea if they showed him on sky but he looked beyond gutted.

It’s an extension his contract was for 2023 this now takes him to 2024

Yes. There was no laughing and joking with him at the end of the game was there. He felt it. He can be very proud of himself.

To be fair, 1 year is optimal from the clubs perspective. Keeps options open.
