Most people on here will not remember him, but my dad said that we had a pretty small, flimsy FB called Bret Hodgson, and he seemed to do quite well for us.

He was a super player. He took some very big hits in his final season with us.

Absolutely not. Small durable players are a requisite of the modern game. French, Coote, Fages, Ashton and Sam Tomkins in his early days are all capable of getting a good few whacks and getting on with the game. They are the game breakers the game needs. Catalans rough everybody up, Ashton is fine as he is. |

I don't think Ashton needs to bulk up particularly, but I think he can bulk up and not lose speed. If memory serves we already added some weight on to him in his first pre season. I'd agree though, if that extra weight slows him down any, he should steer clear.
