| Not seen the Gelling promotional material, but if it's in line with the recent 'norm' from our Warrington promotional team - which goes under the guise of 'there is no such thing as bad publicity' - then I'm glad I haven't seen it.
It's in the main been juvenile, pathetic and quite honestly embarrassingly amateurish (even if at times it has made me giggle).
I'm sure it appeals to some, but clearly I'm not their target audience.
Now what's happening tomorrow?
Oh yes it's a rugby match

It's literally a picture of the side/back of Gelling during a game showing the number 3 on his shirt saying 3 days left that's it. They've done it for the past 10 days or so with every player according to the number on their shirt with the amount of days left before we play. So the high and mighty crying saying we shouldn't use it for promotion is pathetically bizzarre and people are making an issue just to simply complain about us like some fans like to do.

I agree. There’s only so much can legally be said

Don't see anything wrong with that. Not really singling him out.

| Be interesting to see how it pans out in court. He definitely seemed very ‘busy’ out there against HKR and wanted to make an impact on the game.
His performance was so hot & cold today: Stepping out the line they score, gets sin binned, scoring one and followed by two errors, then assist for Charnley and setting up a long range try... it’s too inconsistent, against a top 4 team he’ll get caught out.
With Inglis coming over next year and this court case hanging over his head, he really has to step things up on the field.

Yeah he's been the same in every game i've seen for us so far, where as Toby king in the past 2 yrars has massive upped his game and learning off one of the best centres ever can only enhance him even further. If Gelling does stay i'd say he's the one who will be fighting for his place.

Well said.
As Thane says we are literally talking about the picture of the back of a guys shirt because he has the squad number 3.
Sal, disappointed in your post a bit, I like your stuff generally, but think you are way off here. Have you seen the picture?

If its the picture of his missus with two black eyes which was doing the rounds on social media, that was taken after she was involved in a car crash a while back.

I appreciate that it might not seem like a big deal just putting a picture of Gelling up to highlight the shirt number countdown thing, but when it comes to promotion or branding, it's less about being right or wrong in a moral argument and more about what kind of response it gets from the audience you're trying to reach.
All the interactions and mentions from that twitter post were around Gelling and his court case. Not about the Warrington v Hull KR game. So it was counterproductive - the goal with promotional work is to generate excitement and focus on the game. People are talking about something negative about the club when they should be talking about something positive, which hurts the brand.
Now you might say, well its all being stirred up by fans of other clubs who want to have a pop at the club over something minor. Sure - but we knew that was going to happen - the effect is to distract from the message you want to create with the promotion.
It's like if we were putting a player up to do a media interview with the goal of promoting a derby game, and he wore a cap that said Free Palestine or Extinction Rebellion or something. I have no problem with those causes but wouldn't want a player wearing that cap when the goal was to promote a game, because all the interactions and discussion you'd get would be political arguments, and nobody would be talking about the game!
I would have just skipped over the day 3 in the shirt countdown and picked it up with day 2.
But also I should note that although I've had a moan about some of the club's social media activity in terms of individual posts, I do think they are generally good, they produce plenty of material, it looks far more professionally produced these days than it used to, their video content is excellent and fans who follow the club on social media get a view inside the club that we never used to get before. I do think they are a good team.

| I wonder how many people refused to watch last night's game on the basis of the club using Gelling's image as part of the pre match publicity?
It's purely a guess, but I reckon it's probably zero, so it makes all the bedwetting over it, on social media and by the few on here, pretty irrelevent.

I think you are vastly underestimating the scale of the problem. The stadium was virtually empty.

| Did any season ticket holders receive information on how to watch the game on-line? I opted to gift money to the club for the games I missed during lockdown, but never got any details from the club regarding how I could watch the game.

I didn't receive my link directly. My Dad did but it got caught in his SPAM filter. I spotted this on the club's website
rlhttps://warringtonwolves.com/news/2020/august/Members-Livestream-Codes/rl
I emailed the club with my membership number and received my code, I think, with 24 hours. The link worked fine and I was able to watch the match. The code only works for Wire games, the rest are locked.

Thanks for the heads up, but there is nothing in my SPAM folder from the club.
I will use the link you provided to contact the club.
Cheers
