There are just twelve teams in SL. Any fan of any team who considers one of the other eleven as a 'joke' reveals far more about their own ignorance and arrogance then they do about the true status of the other teams in the comp.

Sorry to interupt an argument but I recall that Wire team early 80's.Bob Eccles, Ken Kelly, Hesford,Potter, Case etc.Anyone remember a game at Wilderspool when Widnes turned up without kit and played in Warrington shirts ?

I remember us playing at Cas in their alternative strip and we whooped them.

I was at Wheldon Rd that day RD. Couldn't believe it when we ran out in Cas' white away kit. Okker forgot to load the kit box I think. We should have kept that strip as it was the best we played that season. John Woods was untouchable that afternoon.
Don't remember us repeating the kit gaff though.

Lol...that has always been my thought....we had more success beating boiled eggs until we played in that Cas kit.

Thing is tho it makes me recall an old teaser that I dined out on many times, which was “When was the last time the great Mickey Adams played in a Warrington shirt” ?

The answer was in a testimonial at Wilderspool, Adams played for the opposition in the first half, and for Wires in the second half.

Not sure whose testimonial tho, Parry Gordon, John Bevan, and there was one game that Brian Bevan had a cameo and scored a try.

And not forgetting Rod Stewart treating us to his dribbling skills at Wilderspool one Sunday afternoon.

I Cannot recall Widnes ever playing at Wilderspool in our second strip.

I think a minor riot emanating from the Railway End would have brought about a swift about turn from the Chemics if they ran out in the P&B. I don't remember that either.

I vaguely remember a game with us and not having the right shorts or wearing the other teams shorts.
But very vague...it was however shorts whatever it was.

It happened, I was there amongst 5000 others.It was the blue jerseys with the letter W on the breast.I have a grainy picture but not sure how to upload.I can email it to anybody interested.Poor quality picture but you can just make out the W on the shirt of Stuart Wright.Proper fixture, not a friendly game.
