74166_1608576718.jpeg Just my opinions unless it's a FACT, in which case it's a fact.:d7dc4b20b2c2dd7b76ac6eac29d5604e_74166.jpeg |

| My impression in the early part of the season was that we had been quite lucky to be in second place. The second half collapse at Wakefield was extremely worrying. Our “style” has got worse as the season progressed. I originally thought this was down to the Ratchford absence, but actually it is much deeper rooted.
The unexpected win at Wembley was fantastic, but I don’t think it should be enough to save Price. Our wingers have seen next to no attacking chances in the second part of the season. At times it looks like we are playing on a pitch half as wide as the opposition. This must be a result of the coach’s game plan/tactics.
I’m by inclination normally in the “trust the coach” camp. I certainly was for both Cull and TS until almost the bitter end, but not in this case.
Can’t see it happening though.

| Feels to me like the coach has a very fixed gameplan and it is being followed to the letter with a complete lack of enthusiasm. It must be boring to play and how can you train to play this game plan?

| At the final whistle in the CC final I thought, at the time, the players euphoric reaction to Price was quite telling. It felt like they knew his methods were under scruitiny and they were as pleased for him as anyone.
In hindsight and viewing the season as a whole, maybe it was just that - pure euphoria. I don't know how the players feel about playing to such a restrictive "plan" but if I was blessed with the ability of Ratch, Clarke, Currie, Austin etc. I'd be pretty fed up with it.
As has been mentioned, around the time of the Saints & Salford defeats something changed. Offloads disappeared, Austin's performances went into decline (his inclusion in the dream team says more about the quality of SL halves than anything else) and we reverted to five drives and the toby kick.
That can of only come from the coaches and strikes me as weak, reactionary and lacking belief in your team. However, I currently have less fair in the clubs management than its coaching staff so I don't expect any changes, sadly.

| As much as I love flowing rugby, I enjoyed the dominant grind of our Challenge Cup final. Possibly one of the best games I'd seen since the dominant attack display once again at Wembley in 2010...the games of 2011 was what followed.
Are we being treated to what our club brought in....An NRL template style....I wonder if Big Roy AsItEasy had his time again, he'd be just what we need?
Are we being hypocritical to desire to be the greatest club in world rugby, but criticise the structure that has been the model in Australia for decades?

To play that style you need a big pool of tough, uncompromising forwards which means you maintain that overwhelming grind over 80 mins and regardless of substitutions.
Ever since I can remember the Kangaroos have had that luxury. in 2019 Warrigton don't - we have Hill & Cooper and when they depart the intensity drops. You can't play a tough, high intensity, unyielding game without the players 1-17 to deliver it.

| Minus the CC...
If we'd had started the season the way we finished it.... would Price still be our head coach?

No and in reality it's a risk with him as coach going into next season. However we do not know if the next group of signings will be the final pieces of his plan.
If we're to change I think it needs to happen pretty quickly. But who is there to replace him? I think we need a proven serial winner to come in pull no punches and make the changes on and off the field.
I would be more than happy to turn up and watch us play an nrl style of rugby if we look like an nrl side whilst doing it. Nrl wingers score trys....

I’ve already thrown Shaun Wane’s name in another thread, yes I know some would want me nailed to a cross for saying that name but at end of the day he knows how to win and right now I don’t care how we do it. We need to win the Grand Final, I’d happily have us lose at first hurdle in CC to help achieve it.

The sad thing is I think that if we’d started the season how we ended it, Price WOULD still be coach.
Warrington have a mentality and culture of mediocrity, Wane is the man to blast that out of the water.
Warrington could’ve made a big statement to the players, fans and opposition by announcing Price’s leaving at 9am on Friday morning.

But you need to play that way to win the Grand Final. You’ve proved you can play that way in the Cup Final.
Personally I think it’s about being able to do both.
Leeds in their prime had the ability to play expansive rugby with offloads etc during the season then adapt to the grind come playoff time.
You could visibly see the change in style come September. Sinfield and McGuire would suddenly sharpen up and there’d be no or few low percentage plays going on. No shortcuts taken by trying to go wide too early. The grind was demanded and provided.
I think you’ve got most of the ingredients, I think you’re missing another top winger to go with Charnley, another solid NRL no-frills prop and some leaders.
In the game v Cas there appeared to be little leadership or inspiration.

I don't think you watch too much Wire judging part or the penultimate paragraph.

This, except we don't need a winger. We have 2 quality wingers and a good reserve in mamo.
