Quote: AS108 "To be fair you had a good go but tired badly after half time and from that point onwards Thompson and Walmsley tore you a new one. Two world class players, don’t think anyone will be arguing Philbin is better now. I told you all Austin was a flat track bully ages ago and I was right, completely anonymous and just as bad as Patton tonight, who everyone knows is Championship standard. The missed forward pass was a bad call from the touch judge but so was the missed crusher from Hill and you got what you deserved for playing so negatively. Good game though.'"

Walmsley and Thompson world class..proves what you know..if they are world class I can see the Aussies laughing there balls off...good players yes world class as you put it na miles off..congrats on your win tho...I'm off to show my son how to throw a ball forward and then explain to him how its allowed in rugby league

Walmsley changed the game in second half when he decided to turn play maker!!! We had nobody who was able to do that for us tonight. That along with the sin binning it swung the balance in saints favour.

Tonight was a wasted oppertunity they no Roby and lost a player early on (hope he is OK and the hospital trip was just precautionary) but we didn't seem to play to that. First half was great to watch that defensive ferocity from both sides second half we were gassed after huges going off and payed the price.

Have to build upon this performance
Fitness and stamina based upon tonight's performance. I'm hoping there's some activity to bring in a new prop or two next year and a second row too.

Quote: CW8 "Honest to god I'm a peaceful man but I hope something bad happens to you on your way home. I hate you. The forward pass ruined the best game for ages, without it you may win on golden point and maybe that's fair but for 60 minutes that was amazing them thaler turned it in to a farce.'"

Come on mate that's a bit strong..I know its frustrating but end of the day its sport...your better than that comment

Quote: Psychedelic Casual "Well this season we are yet to see if you can beat us with XIII v XIII for 80. In both games it’s been utterly even in quality and play until we’ve had a sin binning.'"

a) you should have had another one, Roby was sin binned for a far more conspicuous crusher than Hill showed tonight.

b) the precedent for a shoulder charge with contact with the head is red not yellow. A red would have been harsh, but you surely can’t suggest the yellow was harsh?!?

c) the sin binning in the first game was perfectly legitimate too. Perhaps rather than saying Saints are yet to beat Warrington with 13 players for 80 minutes you should look at why you have been unable to so far play a game against Saints without needing disciplinary action.

It’s a real shame we’re talking about the ref after the first quality game of SL in a while. But since we’re here, can anyone explain why Walmsley was penalised for being elbowed in the throat?

I don’t know why you think I don’t think either Cooper in the first game or Hughes tonight weren’t sin bins. We lost both games because of a lack of composure seeing our lads get deservedly sin binned in both games.

They were literally the game changers in two completely even games. Completely our fault both times.

Aw. Poor fella. Keep trying and I'm sure that one day you'll be able to read even more words....

Presumably you disagree about us going down to 12 men so it looks as though once you master reading you will have to start on numbers

Have a few lessons then try this brain mangler... 13 - 1 = ?

(Hint: the answer is really close)

It’s hard to see the wood for the trees in this thread between genuine comments and ... others! Apologies icon_biggrin.gif

FWIW what lost Warrington the game was the decision making at 6-6 - I am still baffled and relieved at the kick through on the 2nd. Was convinced you were going to set up for the drop goal!

Quote: Magic Superbeetle "It’s hard to see the wood for the trees in this thread between genuine comments and ... others! Apologies That was absolutely barmy.

We’d shifted the Saints line and created gaps, had Saints players out of position, had four tackles in the bank... and kicked it straight to a Saints player.

Infuriating!

Saints were much more composed (in both games) and that’s been the difference so far.

That’s the difference between Saints last year and this year. First thing I said after the game was we wouldn’t have won that last year.

But rather than focusing on the negatives - let’s leave it at it was probably the best game of rugby in the UK since the playoff Semi in Cas in 2017

It was certainly an intense and captivating spectacle.
Saints were better than us tonight, but less better than April

....(a bit like last year!)

Didn’t see the game live but just finished watching it now. My unbiased view as best I can give it after far too much ale
Warrington looked good and were the better team early on. Saints worked out that they could win if they stayed in the game til late on! The sin binning of Hughes and rightly so turned the game as did the forward pass! King Goodwin Patton Philbin Hughes and Currie aren’t good enough if Warrington want to challenge. Saints are currently a long way ahead of Warrington

This.

I hope this is part of some master plan to get us to peak at the right time. The defencive intensity and line speed in the first 40 was great and we bossed them some big hits and we were bossing the game we did not take our chances early on and opting for two effectively was a gamble that we could park the bus so to speak.

Agreed on players barring Goodwin he has played well since announced departure. Tasi can be added to the list also. Price is a year behind Holbrook but the next lot of signings are going to be really important I think we need two good props who you could argue should start. Watts And pauli pauli would be my first choice. Second row kenny Edwards at catalans and Joe greenwood maybe deal to let them have currie?? I think that along with widdop and either one of gelling or Gildart I think we would have a shout and be over cap lol

We were a man lighter in the front row than they seemed. Whether that’s in numbers or just size or just being coached to run from deeper so you’re getting to the line faster... but I think we need a quality prop as priority this Winter.
