| Quote: Asgardian13 "Aussie press has named Aus$450,000 per season as Sandow's pay. That's almost £210,000. In which case there is no way he is anything but our 'marquee' signing. It's uninmaginable that we could pay an even higher wage to another player, as it would leave less than £1.4m for the whole of the rest of the squad. Remember also that Gidley is an 'organising hafl-back', so where do we have room for yet another half-back?'"
How would the aussie press have any more idea about his salary than the british press or, for that matter, any of us. None of us know for certain players salaries, but if what I have been told is true I think many would be surprised at how low some senior players salaries actually are. (More in the £50k area rather than the £100k we may expect).
Plus, if we're going to invest in a marquee player, then I would have thought we'd pay more than £35,000 over the £175,000 Salary Cap allowance.

| Eastmond will be on a huge salary at Bath and could pick up even more in France. He's being looking class this year. Super League will not be able to afford him.

That has got to be the main issue resolved now. Anything else is a bonus IMHO. Let's just have faith in Mr.Moran and the accountants to get it right.

Unless for whatever reason he isn't happy and wants to return north and return to league. I imagine he'd want to be a club's marquee player though, using the money he could earn in union as a bargaining tool, but again that would be dependent on a club - whether it be ourselves or anyone else - being prepared to offer him that. If they won't then he may be open to offers if it is simply what he wants to do.
I'm not saying that's definitely the case or that we're definitely signing him or anything daft like that, but it's not completely unfeasible that any player might have personal reasons for making decisions we wouldn't necessarily expect.

Normally I'd agree about press speculation, but on this occasion Sandow's contractual ups and downs have been so widely publicised that it won't have been hard for the Aussie press to get a close idea of this new contract. I agree that most of our players will be on nearer £50k than to £100k ( after all less than 5% of the UK working population earns £50k), but , if £400k goes to two players it will still be very tight on salary cap.

| It's too bad their not on piece work. There'd be some savings made on 2 or 3 players at least.

I believe Cronk had a new offer from his club to retain his services to ward off interest from Wire, can't blame them really.
More than happy with Sandow I've not known this kind of excitement from fans for quite awhile.

| Every year we get this Eastmond rumour, it's almost as popular as Atkins to RU. I suspect the cupboards and changing lockers at the HJ must be absolutely jam packed with Kyle Eastmond clones by now.

| I was one bemoaning the clubs apparent lack of foresight but must give the club a big pat on the back for the way they have conducted matters, rather than rush in all willy nilly it has given plenty of thought and shown patience during difficult times to get the right players, and well done sticking by Simon Grix it's been a long time since his injury and it's great the club was there when he needed it.
Things would have been better had Grix been on the field that's for sure, we certainly missed his experience.

It wouldn't surprise me if we had made an approach for Eastmond, the hype of recent signings and Simon Moran's body language these last few days gives the feeling that there is more on the way and anything is possible.
As much as I would love to see Eastmond here like others on here I feel he's just out of our finances.

A lot depends on how happy Eastmond is at Bath and whether he gets in the final World Cup squad. Stuart Lancaster is known to favour biff and bash centres and Eastmond's relationship with the Bath Club hasn't always been great. If he does come, a bonus is that he can also kick.
