I would agree but if they were to display those dis-attributes in more than the odd bad game then I would guess they wouldn’t last long in any SL side, and what’s more they should never have been there in the first place!

| Ratchford and Bridge have to play in the halves if we are going to win another game this year...and its a big IF.
Soft defence + poor half backs = no more wins this year.
Lots of work to do with this team to get us anywhere near Old Trafford and Wembley again....and we need a few more players. Another decent prop, a fast winger and a proper, creative scrum half who can organise and shout at people. Maybe another 2nd rower as well.

You're way off on England wirefan, after a shakey start(which can be attributed to the whole team) England has been nothing short of fantastic considering its his first season in SL, he's a work in progress granted, last night he was quiet, but he was quiet by the standards he has set so far this year, definitely one to keep an eye on.

| I have a lot of time for England, he's improved a lot this year and I think there's plenty still to come.
As for O'Brien/Myler, one thing I've noticed is that O'Brien seems to get targetted much more than Myler, to the extent where is quite often caught in posession. Now, is this because he is not fast enough of thought/foot, his positional sense or awareness of what is going on is wrong or simply that he is perceived by the opposition as much of a threat?
I don't know, but he was one of our better last night, his kicking game was bob on, he took his try very well, his kick for Atkins was excellent and one or two misreads aside, he looked assured at this level. We certainly need to bring another dominant HB in but I am firmly of the belief that it is Gareth, not Myler, who should be partnering them.

Couldn't agree more - May win first play off game against whoever finishes 7th as we'll be 6th, and that's that.
People say front row will be good next year, pointless having a dominant front row without a decent half back to take advantage - Would go as far a needing a centre too.
Plus would help if we are on full salary cap because surely we can't be now given the high profile departures of last year

Perfect description of Ryan Bailey.

| Myler was dreadful last night - how he gets a run is beyond me. Offers nothing in attack other then slowing it down. Someone mentioned his broken field play - it was non-existent compared to how he used to play.
His kicking game was a disgrace.
The only plus point was his defence - and that was found wanting on Broughton's try.
Get rid.

makes you realise just how good Briers was...because with a top quality, creative half back...Myler is actually quite good...as a support player.
If you are relying on him to get you around the pitch and call the plays...forget it.
And GOB isn't 'that' player for me...he has a decent, developing rugby brain and has a decent kicking game....but he's no where near quick enough and isn't sufficiently experienced to make the right calls during a game. It might come for him over time.... but he's got a quarter of what Briers had ....at a similar age.

| Just a side thought, how come we didn't have the send offs and good byes for the players leaving last night, what with it being the last actual home game.
They normally do it then, not taking into account the possibility of play off games.

Agree about England, he appears to be trying and therefore is improving under a full time regime.
As far as GOB is concerned, I too thought he had a good game last night up there with Harrison for MOM. IMO he gets targeted more than Myler because he does take the line on, sometimes over doing it and that's when he gets caught sometimes getting one in the chops for his trouble. I also like the fact that he doesn't go into hiding, but, whether he's the answer I'm not so sure......he needs to kick on right now

| Briers at a 24! Give me GOB over him any day!
Briers was up to many things that effected his playing!
I have a long memory. He has a lot to thank tony smith for!

I've always been an advocate of everyone is entitled to their opinion, but you've clearly opened the sherry cabinet a bit too early today, duckie.
At this point in his career (judging his comparative age with GO'B), Briers had just formed a devastating partnership with Appo until he (Lee) had broken his leg/ankle/foot.
Briers had also learned under the tutelage of a legend (Langer), and received dozens of MoMs and had RU sniffing round for his services
GO'B has been passed from pillar to post, not excelling anywhere. Don't get me wrong, there's nowt wrong with the lad, he just doesn't possess that "x factor" that makes him into a very good HB.
GO'B>Briers

| I've seem briers put in one great game followed up by many average and poor ones, and repeat.
Smith changed that, I am always open to opinion to change my mind, unfortunately on this matter I've seen it with my own eyes throughout his career at Warrington.
I don't doubt Lee's fantastic talent, just his self discipline!

For what it's worth, GOB is just now at the age Briers was when Langer came over.
