Out of interest, was there anything specific that was "clueless out of touch refereeing"? Can't say I noticed too much myself.

I wasn't at the game, so I can only comment based on radio commentary, but 17+ penalties speaks of out of touch refereeing.
The Wakey fans couldn't spake (in the loudest, most vocal way possible) at some of the calls.
EDIT: I can't recall who Wire FM said the ref was but I think they said he was one of the most inexperienced available, which could explain a lot. Perhaps not a fair comparison, but in the last game at Wilderspool the young ref was very happy to blow up. I think getting a feel for a game, getting in touch with it, and allowing it to flow comes with experience.

| 17+ penalties to me sounds like two teams that couldn't keep their discipline.

| Ben Currie had an absolute stormer today, threw an outrageous dummy to make the break for the Bridge try and then did something very similar for the Myler try aswell. Recommend watching them both on the Super League show. His potential is frightening considering he is a forward.

From what I heard on the radio, this also played a large part in the penalty count.

Thats good to hear , because so far this season he's looked pretty poor up until the last two or three weeks , he's been well and truly overshadowed by Laithwaite imo.

from what i have heard he has been still recovering from the virus which caused him to lose a lot of weight at the end of last season. Also people have to remember he is still 19!

| Go on, I'll ask the question that is on the lips of everyone who didn't attend:
What degree wash is best for getting chocolate and tonic-wine stains out of my best fleecy long johns?
Oh sorry, wrong website.
I mean "How did big Roy Go?"

The word 'Alright' pretty much covers his performance.

| The ref today seemed obsessed with giving penalties for crossing but a lot of poor handling kept putting us under needless pressure. A goalkicker or extra practice for Bridge is a must ,it's no good going towards the business end of the season with one arm tied behind your back . Westwood 's tackle may have looked worse than it was but it was put on report.

| Well, on the positive side, we picked up the two points, rested two players, and the gamble of moving Currie to centre paid off handsomely. Not only did he make full use of his pace, but he will also have gained a lot of confidence from that performance. And of course Myler got a run out - yes he has been underwhelming this season, but another fit player gives us more options, plus he can only improve from his early season displays. But it sounded a very scrappy affair and I counted three dropped balls from England alone. Doubtless the conditions didn't help together with another player re-shuffle, but good sides have to cope with this if they are to challenge for the pots.
Fortunately, we are still in both knock out competitions, so anything can happen.

To be honest I've yet to meet anyone, and I can safely include referees in this assertion given Ganson's comments on SKY, who knows or can explain the correct interpretation of the crossing rule.
It is an utter farce, seems to be exempt of logic and a total lottery.

The sudden return to form of Ben Currie is a real bonus, whilst only a few weeks ago some were also slagging off Ben Harrison, who has also now played himself into a bit of form. i was impressed with ryan Atkins last week and if Myler can get his confidence back then Tony Smith could have a real, but very pleasant, problem on his hands.
