| Never had so much fun and support for Rugby league than I got today. The football fans who watched the Wigan v Warrington game and then that dross yesterday were truly complementary of our sport. Most mentioned the speed of the game and the intensity of the hits.
As I've heard recently and quoted today, football is played by men for 90 minutes pretending their injured. Rugby League is played by men for 80 minutes pretending THEIR NOT injured.

| Re the Goulding into touch.
I thought the rule was that tackling players are allowed to push a ball carrying player into touch.
Should a team mate of the ball carrier start to push and support his collegue the referee will call held.
Once Charnley started to push against the Wire players Bentham would have called "Held".
That a moment later Goulding's foot hit the touch line Bentham had no option but to give a penalty as Wire players had not stopped but continued to push.
That's as I understand the rule.

| I was walking through Ormskirk yesterday with my Wigan bob hat on (it was bloody freezing) A couple saw the Wigan badge and stopped. "Brilliant game on Friday, I thought you were unlucky."
My reply, "I think a draw was fair result, but it was a great game"
When I watch some of the over paid prima donnas playing football it makes me realise how lucky we are to be a part of our great sport.

This decision really irked me. Goulding went into touch as he got to his feet, it is not the responsibility of the defending side to keep his feet in the field of play. The touch judge called this one right (never thought I'd type those words). The only dragging I saw was someone (Charnley?) dragging Riley off Goulding. It also seems a little inconsistent inasmuch as if Goulding had off-loaded, it would have just gone back to the play the ball.
I watched the game again last night to see how it was without the stress of it all, and I more agree with those neutrals saying it was a classic. Neither team on top of their game, but a good old brutal game of RL. On 2nd viewing I don't think we had as much go against us as I did on Friday night, but I still think Wigan got away with a bit more than we did (namely: the above; the legs over horizontal on The Hodge in the last minute, and; the 'discretionary' warning that I felt was not enforced).

| What I cant understand is why it's a penalty (I mean the rule, not why the decision was given). Surely it makes more sense to adopt the new approach used for when the ref has called held and play is called back for a play-the-ball.
Same could be applied here.

if you watch it again the offence may have been (or should have been) for hand between the legs, I think it was Riley on Goulding.

| I thought the penalty for dragging Goulding was pretty unfair - if I recall correctly they had almost got him to the line by the time the ref shouted held, and he stepped on it himself trying to get up - but there were some shocking decisions both ways all night. I cannot believe Atkins didn't get penalised for tackling Charnley (I think?) in the air without the ball, what was he thinking!

It's 6 seconds in between Bentham shouting held and Riley and Atkins still pushing Goulding on the floor, they push him back about another 4 metres - he had no choice but to blow up. Riley also had his hand probably in between each of Goulding's testicles. Stupidly dangerous.

And how does he know that Riley's hand was balanced between Goulding's balls? I know he says probably but still - quite the assumption - it's not like with Tomkins where his balls are on view for all to see.
