Quote: Uncle Rico "Whilst I agree with the need may be relevant on a 'who would you like to see coming in thread', but, not on this one IMO. I think that the posters 'talking' about the physical nature of the game and the intensity from both sides is more interesting than the continuous debate on next seasons' contracts, inevitable though that seems particularly as our form has been patchy.

FWIW I'm glad that it also didn't descend into a debate on the refereeing or lack of it. God knows what he would have done if he didn't have a screen to refer to....ooops I've done it.'"

Thats it, you have de-railed the thread now. It can only be a matter of time before someone asks when the girls beach volley ball begins in the Olympics and Yed locks the thread.

Well match threads throw up all kinds of issues, from positional play, refereeing decisions aswell as adding fuel to debates that have started i.e who is coming to the end of their warrington careers and who may warrant another contract. I can see where you are coming from with it straying slightly from the subject but by it's very nature talking about the game and how players faired will encompass discussion on where improvements could be made.

Quote: Asgardian13 "Briers and Hodgson will definitely get another year, and will deserve it. Woody probably also.'"

Definitely. Lee is our best player every time he steps on the pitch. I reckon he's got two seasons left in him.

Hodgson had more energy and creativity in him for Exiles and for us last night than most, much younger, full backs in SL show any week.

Woody just needs to keep his offloads to sensible ones and he's still a top player.

He's a very good player playing the worst rugby of his career.

Not a problem with developing threads really GN (I'm not a mod) and I like debate and considered opinion, but, its not that long that the 'forum' or plenty on it were commenting negatively at every opportunity on Carvell's form and he's right back in good form now.

Morley, Woody, and Bridge are getting it currently and yes its all about opinions but 2nd in the league, in a semi, just beaten 3rd in an intense game in front of a decent Monday night crowd (that picked the team up a little in the second half when Cats were getting back in contention)...things aren't that bad being a Wire for now.

Let's enjoy it and be positive for once and I don't mean lurching to the extreme of we can turn out two SL teams and still finish in the top two type stuff pre Salford

youve hit the nail on the head there...most sensible post regarding this thread..if i hadnt watched last nights game i would have sworn wed have just been hammered...to beat a very decent catalan side and conceding 1 try is a brilliant effort....some people would find a fault if they won a million on the lottery

Astonishing thread this really, although the misers on it are all too familiar.

For some Warrington fans, rugby league squad management is like Logan's Run.

There is no such thing as a bad game, or even poor form: you're either good or you're 'finished'. Paul Wood has hit the first dodgy patch in his whole career and he's been packed off to the knacker's yard, Brett has picked up a couple of knocks and it's time to get rid. Presumably if Michael Monaghan gets hurt again he's off to the firing squad too.

Incredible really, takes the shine off what was a cracking game and win.

Thought last nights game was excellent and both teams deserve credit for it. A good win against a strong team eusa_clap.gif eusa_clap.gif

Just watching the game back now and few things that i've noticed and are very pleasing is...

1. Our defence was immense it really was and what i've not seen for awhile we was not just tackling hard but we was pushing them back constantly.
2. Our kicking game was really good, most kicks where finding space, the amount of people kicking but not only just kicking but putting very good kicks in was impressive.

We had Hodson, Higham, Ratchford, GOB, Monas kicking having so many good kickers can only be a good thing, how is the opposition meant to put pressure on a kicker when you don't know who is going to kick it.

To be fair ,the break made by Bridge wasn't helped by the 2 support players going the wrong side of him otherwise something might have come from the move .

I've really enjoyed and am enjoying watching warrington over the last couple of seasons, i want that to continue so no matter how well you do you have to continually look to improve.

Totally agree, but, looking at the thread title in perhaps its most narrow sense, then there must surely be more to be taken from a game like Monday's, two decent outfits going at it, rather than some of the cricket scores we ran in last year?

Great though they are on the day, it's no good for our sport longer term, watching one sided games. For example the big score we ran in at the Willows in the sunshine last year was quite boring and I live in Salford and was stood with pals supporting the home side so had the biggest grin (how I had the smile wiped off my face this year).

Sorry going on about nothing now, let's get behind the boys, especially those out of sorts I'm sure they are trying and have a great climax to the season.

I'll get me coat ha ha

Morley and Hodgson certainly looked like they were finished today.
