| Anyone remember him taking a wild hack at Simon Grix after he'd gathered a lose ball in the game at the DW early this year?

| We all know what Sam can be like - I can't stand him in all honesty. But to be fair he has the potential to become a superb player - lets just hope for the sake of British Rugby League that he can grow up as he really needs to cut some of the silly crap out of his game to go to the next level. He needs to grow up like Briers needed to - Smith (along with others) helped Briers to do it so maybe Sam needs something similar.
As for the kick it was awful and very very dangerous - should definatley be facing a ban.

| Can't stand the little rat!
I think he's a good player. A little selfish at times and makes wrong decisions at times too, but his winding runs are great to watch and he's improving defensively. By the time he's in his late 20's he'll be a very good player.
However, he just doesn't play within the spirit of rugby league. He's like a whingey and whiney little girl, or like Wayne Rooney or Ashley Cole in footy - notice how they get boo'd a lot as well! He's worse than the fat ginger Scouser at Saints for crying to the refs. Tomkins spends more time in conversation with the referee than all SL captains put together. Any decision the ref makes he's got a ing comment to make about it. Why?! Just shut yer dirty cake hole and get on with the game you moaning tw@! Ganson sinbinned him for it a while back (could have been last season) but that was the only time I've ever seen a ref punish him. He also constantly calls for the ref to give a decision. Never seen owt like it. A little tickle brushing his chin and he's looking and shouting at the ref for a penalty. If he wants to be a referee why doesn't he just get his badges and run around the middle with a whistle? He can make as many calls as he wants then.
Then there's the parts of his actual game. Constantly tying his legs around opponents or gripping opponents hands/arms or pulling opponents jerseys close to his body in a tackle to try and win a penalty. Constantly pushing the marker when he plays the ball. Constantly throwing or kicking the ball away. Constantly taking the with facial expressions or saying things to opposing players. He dives too and feigns injury quite a lot; that dive in the Grand Final last season was an absolute disgrace where he went down as if absolutely smashed in the face and holding his face on the floor when there was absolutely nowt up with him, he was like a girly South American footy player. And so on and so on.... I've not even mentioned sticking the "V's" up last week - oh I just did!
Now don't get me wrong, every player in the league will do these things now and again throughout the season (well apart from the diving and feigning injury) but it's all game, every game with this runt. And this is why he's boo'd. How the media don't get this I don't know.

Sam Tomkins is possibly the most exciting player in Super League, but he's not the best. I'd say there are a few better. James Roby, Michael Monaghan even Thomas Leuluai. Their decision making, passing and defending are all better than Tomkins.

| awful awful decision maker, average defensive fullback, brilliant broken field runner, but was absolutely rubbish today. That was not a good performance.
And if a wigan fan thinks that is a statemant typed out in some kind of jealousy then I guess it goes some way to explain the numb nut gleeeful drumming and woah woahing that came from the Wigan end after recieving the driest of dry bummings.

| As a wire fan personally I believe that him kicking out at Clarke, while wrong is being blown out proportion, what I was most annoyed about with Tomkins today was him asking the referee to sin bin Morley, it was like watching a premier league footballer. Unbelievably childish and unsporting in such a tough game. It didn't happen but he deserved to thoroughly filled in for trying to get not just another competitor but an England teammate sin binned, I couldn't believe what I saw.

| Maybe McGuire would have been better to "rest" him for the game to avoid the controversy & the abuse he would & did get - after all Fergusson did the same when Utd last went to Everton

| For the first time ever yesterday, you'd actually want him playing as an opposition fan. It was a Kev Penny style performance, bit of genuis followed by 36 moments of madness.
He looked down yesterday Sam, really downbeat. Like he'd realised Joel was his brother.
