Quote: latchfordbob "Redknapp is terrible. Two of the best analysers they have on Sky are Gullit and Souness (who is even better on RTE when he's allowed more freedom of speech). When Redknapp is on with them they are always picking holes with what he has to say in a shut up you don't know what you are on about kind of way. Even Dwight Yorke was putting him right a couple of weeks ago.
On the sacking argument, I think everyone has missed the point on why they have been sacked. It wasn't just the comments in the couple of videos going about. It's fairly well known that these pair are like this all the time and believed they were untouchable. Not just sexual harassment but all other sorts of bullying. From my understanding there won't be many people working at Sky who are upset by these pair leaving.
There's also the case of Gray's current lawsuit against the News Of The World in the phone tapping scandal. The NOTW and Sky both being part of the News International group.'"
I agree with all of this, starting with what you say about Souness and Gullit both of whom are excellent summarisers. Souness is much maligned by football fans but I think he's a good bloke and a true football man who doesn't stand for the egos and nonsense in the modern game, which has translated in him having a reputation as a 'bad man manager' when he's managed teams, because he falls out with players.
On the Sky presenters there have been a few articles in papers like this:
www.guardian.co.uk/football/2011 ... intcmp=239
basically saying that Gray and Keys have been bullying staff, including new males, for years.
It's totally obvious that they've been stitched up with these old clips appearing in the public domain but thats what happens if you aren't nice to people at the bottom rung of the ladder, sometimes its as dangerous to make enemies down below as it is amongst management. Few people are crying about Gray and Keys demise.

I like Graham Souness as a pundit, i applaud people that are not affraid to speak their mind within reason, if you have something to say then just say it, again within reason.
Its the politically correct presenters that i`m not a fan of like Gary Linaker and Eddie Hemmings, they both come across as company men, that type of presenting isn`t my cuppa.
The ideal line up to replace Richard Keys and Andy Gray for me would be Ian Holloway presenting, Ian Holloway doing the match summarising and Ian Holloway commentating.
As for the current saga with the sacking of Andy Gray and Richard Keys resigning, i think their is more to it than meets the eye. Maybe Sky have been looking for a reason to get rid of both for a while now, they could have felt that their presenting had become a bit out dated and this was the perfect oppertunity to get shut especially when Andy Gray is allegedly on around £30k a week which is a bit laughable.
Women who are entering a mainly male dominated sport should expect banter and jokes, i don`t see too much wrong with what they both said which was supposed to be off air, thats just every day banter like i`m sure women would have a laugh at Andy Gray and Richard Keys if they were presenting netball or similar. Mountain out of a molehill springs to mind, its the typical british media that have made it into a huge story when their wasn`t one really.

| I'd replace Keys with Stelling, and Gray with Strachan.

I'm sure you'd go on Victoria park on a Sunday morning and tell everyone that.

Dear God, no. As nauseating, pathetic, glory hunting, JCL look at me aren't I great as you'll find. Truely believes he is one of the reason footballs is as big as it is today.
[iWhen Saturday Comes[/i did a fantastic job of reviewing his autobiography rlhttps://www.wsc.co.uk/content/view/145/29/rl.

To think Souness has been told on a number of occasions to hold back and bite his tongue when on Sky. As mentioned before if you ever get the chance to see a game on RTE have a look. He really is aloud to see what he wants over there.
I can't for the life of me understand why James Richardson has never got the chance on Sky or MOTD. The MOTD2 role after Chiles went was perfect for him. Maybe getting the chance to work with Redknapp, Shearer and Lawrenson would but him off though.

| Lovejoy: “and please welcome our guest, Martin Freeman”
Freeman: “Hi tim, is that a Ramones t-shirt?”
Lovejoy: “Yeah”
Freeman: “What’s your favourite album?”
Lovejoy: “...”
Freeman: “Got any of their albums? Know any of their songs?”
Lovejoy: “er….no”
Freeman: “oh, ok”
James Richardson is a very good call, btw.

| Ray Hudson from Gol.tv is a cracking shout.
If I were Sky, I'd just move over the commentators and hosts from their Spanish football coverage. Don't know them by name, but there is the regular commentator and then some cockney fella who is somehow associated to Spanish football. They stick to talking about the game, barely stir and seem to understand modern concepts about football. Pretty much every knob pundit-ing on English football these days is borderline clueless. Whether it's Chiles, the Irish t[iit[/i off MOTD2 or whoever, they all come across as generally ignorant, gaining most of their 'material' from the red tops. Every now and then you get the good ex-pro, mainly foreign, that offer good analysis and understanding, but they are often too 'good' for the Sky target audience.

Probably is. Not had Sky for a couple of years now so not always been able to watch English coverage, but I think he's a top commentator who swerves the BS and keeps things on the game.

The only blight on his CV, then? To be honest, listening to a sour Manc every week isn't much different to listening to a sour bluenose every week, so I could get used to it, eventually

'A sour bluenose'??....Makes me laugh when I hear that....Gray spent a season and a half at Goodison, not exactly a lifetime and during his commentary career as regularly shown an affection for United, a club who it is well known he wanted to play for, but the move never came off.
Add his adulation for Stevie G and I think any idea he was biased towards Everton is a bit OTT.
