| I think that tap restart was the funniest thing Ive seen at a game. In fact i'm sure he did it so he could one day end up on one of those DVDs.

It's exactly why, how come other players are exempt and treated like heroes? Especially ones who cost us tries in the semi and last week at Wigan and not a mention of it on here.

Indeed. What *really* annoys me is nobody starts thread criticising other players for their handling errors but as soon as Penny makes one he's the biggest villain Wire have ever seen. It really quite sad that some people have got this vindictive campaign against him.

| im sick to death of people slating penny! riley makes as many errors as penny if not more! dont get me wrong i like riley aswell. But i cant get my head round why so many idiots get on his back. I personally like to be entertained at a rugby match but it seems a lot of you dont go for that reason. Im sure you would rather have gaskell back! it only leaves me to believe that its purely down to the lads skin colour. i hear people saying give riley a chance hes a local lad, well penny is from PADGATE so get behind him or P%$S off to widnes etc keep your chin up penny youre the most exiting player ive seen at warrington in recent times by a landslide

Not sure i agree with you there fella. Admittedly in his early days riley made a lot of mistakes but for most of this season he has been very steady. he does make the occasional error undoubtedly but so do the whole team, To say he makes as many as Kev is well off the mark. That isnt a critism of Kev but i do feel Riley has really stepped up lately

| It doesnt matter What Penny did last night as he will not be in the Wembley Squad.......Paul Johnson, Chris Bridge and Richie Mathers will be and they were quite simply appalling last night.
Paul johnson is done i'm afraid..... provides absolutely nothing. He misses tackles with alarming regularity and is a plodder with ball in hand.
Mathers is "wobbling" at the minute and thats being kind and Chris Bridge showed lazyness in defence on a scale I havent witnessed since Faafilli was here.
incidently the penny Frenzy is totally unwarrented but i'm confident its your average Cock thats getting involved in it and not normal fans with some ounce of rugby league knowledge.
the knock on at the Tap was a howler but hardly a suprise I'd like to see someone rull at Pennys pace then try and tap the ball on the run without falling flat on their face or dropping the ball ...he needed to calm down and just try a normal quick tap but at the pace he was attempting it was always going to end in some kind of disaster.......other than that he dropped a pass he possibly should have held, but he was recieving an awful lot of of $hit passes from Westwood and Bridge
but he never missed a tackle and quite frankly put people like former international Paul johnosn to shame..
but like i say he wont be playing at Wembley and some god awful $hit will be....

Can't agree with you there. I don't think his skin tone has anything to do with it, he is a showy player and as a nation we like to knock people like that down.

| If anybody thinks that we criticise KP because of his colour is surely way off the mark. The lad managed to drop the ball 4 times in the warm up - as was commented on by many.
The number of times he dropped the ball in the first half must also have reached 4, and then the 20m tap howler.
Everybody around me thought he was trying too hard, and some of the passes he got were abysmal.
The try he had disallowed after catching Briers kick was a brilliant take, and he was clearly onside.
His second half improved in defence, and, if some other members of the team had showed half as much enthusiasm, we would have won that game.
I don't know what the answer is, unless it is an extended run in the first team to restore his confidence. We have clearly given up ambitions of top 8 play offs, so lets play him in the last 2 league games, if not Wembley.
Plenty of others came in for criricism last night, including Clarke and Mathers, so it wasn't all directed at KP.
This is an enigma that only TS can sort out.

| I'd love to see Kevin back at Widnes, and I think most, if not all, fans share that view. He's made some daft mistakes for us too, as well as scoring some cracking tries and saving quite a few as well. That may come as a shock to some, but his defence is quite good. Several times for us he got faced with 2 or 3 attackers and only him in the defence, and he's is VERY good as holding up attacks like that by using his head, disrupting the play and not diving into a tackle, giving the rest of the defence time to get back and make tackles.
And as for daft mistakes, anyone can make them. Ask Fax fans what Ben Black (one of the best players in our division) did against us in the NRC semi - a shocking mistake that clearly cost them a place in the final but they didn't turn on him at all.
I think many of you have spotted that Kevin's mistakes often come from being over enthusiastic - and maybe when he pulled on the black and white (or luminous yellow) he didn't feel the pressure to do something special when not playing for his hometown team, but he was still our most enthusiastic player on the pitch. Good coaching and a bit of mental discipline will make Kevin a better player.
He's also one of the few players that I look forward to watching. I pay my money to watch lads giving everything and providing excitement. Kevin does both very, very well.

| he improved massively in the second half. Also i thought his defence has improved alot. TBH he was just trying to hard.
it has absolutly nothing to do with his skin colour. that doesnt even come into the discussion.

I'm with you.
You'll get the odd numpty who will have a pop at him for his skin colour, but that's just a numbers game from society. I think mainly he gets criticism from our fans because he's local, he's an extravert and he's not 'perfection'.
As a set of fans, we like things in black and white, we can't wait to see how somebody develops, like a Harrison.
It's either, he's a good 'un or get rid, NL1 player. Other clubs fans seem better at allowing their youngsters time.
Maybe it's a negative of the cash injection. Folk think, get rid, get somebody better, we've got the money instead of looking to nurture, it's like "Nah, not good enough, get rid."
We're very impatient.
