| Quote: sally cinnamon "I'm in two minds about the Smiths. When I was a teenager I used to think they were awesome, but now I'm not so keen. Lots of people get irritated by the spate of American emo bands around today singing about how unfair the world is and are followed by all the misfits who reckon nobody understands them. The Smiths were basically the same sort of thing in their day but are considered a lot more cool than say My Chemical Romance would be.
I suppose these American emo bands today are singing for attention seeking middle class teenagers who don't have any real problems in life but are looking to invent reasons to justify their self harming. The kids who were into the Smiths were on council estates in Thatchers Britain and probably did have hard lives.
The Smiths did put some good songs out and they still sound good today. I just wish Morrissey would man up a bit.'"
That's because of a certain Johnny Marr, I would say.

The Cult and they have had eight albums from 1984 with dreamtime to 2007 with born into this. The singer Astbury started southern death cult in 81, but was not into them. the best album was 'love' 1985.

2. Bruce Springsteen & the E Street Band
3. REM
4. Adam and the Ants.
Joint 5. King Kurt & James
An honourable mention to The Killers and they may make my list in 10 years if I still find myself listening to their music.
Also to Cruella De Ville, a fantastic group from Northern Ireland in the early eighties who due to their debut album tapes being lost or misappropriated never actually released an album.

I'M a fan myself, remember seeing s d cult back in about 82 (ish) they were all part of the scene that was eventually given the name GOTH which i kinda did not agree with, the damned got the same treatment, sisters of mercy, fields of the nephillim etc.

| The Nuge is a right-wing, racist, NRA-badge-carryin', draft-dodgin', xenophobic, racist again, misogynistic, critter-killin', hippie-hatin', half-cocked hillbilly. And a racist. Scratch the surface and the bloke is vile. A character, yes, but vile nonetheless...
Pity he can't keep his OTT escapades just to his live acts.
