| Or perhaps it was someone from the woodland depth of WBC trying to deflect attention away from the Tree Of Lost Soles!

| Two men seen camping on the car park, 43 year old arrested.
Is Stan the Man in the frame?
Seriously though... Few fires in a number of days in the town now.
My guess is insurance job like many others.

| Easier to get demo permission on a burned out shell. What else is the council going to do with it?
This stuff happens with new acquisitions of old buildings. I used to urbex and saw a few sites become burned out husks after having planning permissions denied over the years.

| Sad to see it go with it being an iconic building but I was always a "The World" kinda guy. I was more gutted about that getting 86'd in favour of flats.

| Never liked Mr Smith's personally. Always full of poseurs of both sexes (much preferred granny grabbing in the Showboat). Even my mates saw the light by the mid 90's. I used to call them all Roger Black........one lap of the place, and they're out.
Still have memories of coming out of the ABC (as was) in the late 70's on a New Years Day, and seeing about a foot of snow....awesome snowball fight on Bewsey Park, afterwards.
When it was re-opened in the autumn of 2011, I was speaking to someone involved in the re-opening night.
He was told that the owners wanted it to be flats then, but the Town Council were INSISTANT that it should be given another go as a night club.
So, opening night comes
No draught beer available
No change in the tills
Broken glass all over the place
Punters going out as fast as they were coming in, because of al the above
Second weekend was a repeat of the above, so, hey-ho, it shuts, and lays idle for 4 years.
I truly hope that the council grows a spine, and tells the prospective flat builders to "love off", and the site either becomes
a) a theatre/entertainment complex
b) gardens
c) even another ####ing drive in car wash
just don't give in to another block of apartments, like the Town Centre needs them, especially at the biggest bottleneck for miles.
This smells worse than Baldrick's trousers

| I don't see why they would put a new bridge right next to the existing one to be honest.
