Warrington Wolves and Woolston Rovers - The PERFECT combination //www.warringtonwolves.com //www.woolstonroversrlfc.co.uk //www.liverpoolfc.tv:d7dc4b20b2c2dd7b76ac6eac29d5604e_20056.jpg

Warrington Wizards will face Huddersfield Underbank Rangers in The Co-operative Rugby League Conference National Grand Final at the Halliwell Jones Stadium on Sunday, kick off 12.30pm. The game is part of the Co-operative Finals Day triple header and will be followed by Oldham v York City Knights and then Featherstone Rovers v Halifax RLFC. Tickets for the game are available from the RFL at www.rugbyleaguetickets.co.uk or you can pay on the day although this is not advised as demand is likely to be high.

The Wizards reached their first Grand Final with an excellent win at Bramley and Huddersfield repeated that feat at the weekend by winning 24-12 at the home of the current champions to reach the final for the second successive year having lost to the Buffaloes last season.

Wizards Assistant Coach Mike Grady is looking forward to the game. He said, “It’s a fantastic achievement to reach the final in what has been the most competitive league to date. We are going to enjoy the day and make the most of being in the final. It is going to be a great occasion and I want the players to go out and express themselves in the same way that they have done all season. The game is going to be very close between two teams who have finished the season in great form; you don’t get to Grand Finals if you are a poor side and both of the teams have thoroughly deserved to get there having both won away at Bramley. If we stick to what we do best then I am confident that we will be lifting the trophy at the end of the game.”

Grady, appointed at the beginning of the season to work alongside Head Player/Coach Chris Campbell added, “From a personal point of view I have really enjoyed this season, Chris and myself have worked really well together. I have had a lot of responsibility especially on matchday’s with Chris still being on the pitch and I have loved every minute of it. I just want to put on record my thanks to the Wizards committee Warren, Nikki and Dave Whalley and Andrew Beevers for giving me and Chris the opportunity and supporting us this year and also to the players who have responded so well to us. Now we have to complete the job and get the game won.”

Jono was on the sidelines at Rylands today. I barely recognised him sans dickie bow! All the Wizards' Rylands lads have sat it out for two weeks at NWC level to focus on tomorrow and I have a good feeling!

Walter and Milly - I only went to Rylands for the last 20 minutes after being unable to bear watching West Bank take Rovers' 4-year plus unbeaten home record! The refereeing perfromance in the first half was a disgrace and Clint was fuming like never before! They are a very good side though and NWC2 is a tough proposition this year. It's a long season but it'll be a battle this year.

The Wizards were magnificent today. They had to put it in hard against a good Underbank side and a lot of people don't know how much effort these lads put in every week to achieve this sort of thing. These lads play rugby league summer and winter non-stop, but today was special to all of them and they loved winning it in front of their own mates and family.

When the final hooter went, anyone who saw that reaction knew how much it meant to them all. They're a tight bunch of lads and they played for each other today. Even when Huddersfield got a roll on in the second half, I knew they'd come through and that last try was excellent vision and execution.

They all came in Wilkie's afterwards at the start of a night out and rocked the place!

Congratulations to Chris Campbell and all the lads. Jono was outstanding as ever, despite wearing his nose over even more of his face than usual and having an "Andy Farrell" tape job (timely drop goal and we'll ignore missing touch with that penalty!). Campbell was brilliant, Redicliffe and Wilson did well and Dave Yii's take and pass to put Healey over for the winning try was wonderful.

Well done to Dave behind the scenes as well. Loads of people couldn't give a toss about amateur rugby league in this town - especially over the summer but today showed that it's all worthwhile for everyone.

Well done lads and I hope you all come back next year and do it again. Some of us are really, really proud of all you.

Thanks to everybody who came and supported us today. The lads were magnificent and thoroughly deserved to win the match.

We must remember though that it is not only the 17 out on the field but all the other players who have performed so brilliantly for us this year but missed out through injury or been unable to get out of work! This was for EVERYBODY connected with the club, whether player, coach, medical staff, management, helpers or supporters. icon_biggrin.gifANCE: icon_biggrin.gifANCE: icon_biggrin.gifANCE:
