| What kind of message are we sending to the academy kids? If you want to play for Warrington, you better be bloody good. If you are, then you will play.
Is this a bad message?

it has to be a mix of youth and experience and as last night showed a little depth in squad can be useful as well!

| it annoys me how people say we must be over the cap, if they didnt already notice, the new signings arent actually on our books yet, and do they not think that we may release players before they are paid by us?

| Cooper, Harrison, Riley, And Mcarthy, are just a few kids with Wembley winners medals that should make this poster want to cut his own penis off and use it as fingers to stop him typing so much $hit....

| Quote: bulldog13 "Looking at the proposed new signings announced today and, yes, wolves will be the team to watch out for next season.
Fantastic coach, great squad but......
Myler - top kid, great signing admittedly. What does this say to the kids coming through - young Gareth O'Brien, Bobby Goulding both - top half backs?
Salary Cap - how the hell can you keep in the limit?
Crowds - no good 25000+ at Wembley - average 10000 this year?
I sense some big unease and unrest to come.'"
O'Brien and Goulding are around 16 so they are for even further in the future. Don't worry Tony is always great at bringing youngsters through, which is going to be even more important with the new systems - home grown, uk trained and overseas trained quotas.
The appointment of Jimmy Lowes put a lot of fans off and season ticket sales were down, along with the numbers of floating fans. That coupled with the credit crunch.
Tony Smith, CC win, new signings will all bring fans back.
The salary cap is for the first 25, there is then an extra £50,000 for players outside of that, and players not playing 1st team don't count. Players on big wages have and will be going, and mostly youngsters have been brought through instead. Lee Briers also has £50,000 of his salary not counted on the cap since the 10 season rule was brought in for 2008.
The cap has been increased by £50,000 for 2010 as well.

Myler - it says that the kids in place are not ready yet and/or, it was too good an opportunity to miss.
Salary Cap - its a 'live' cap so we comply or we don't sign these players. Simples.
Crowds - 25,000 is no good at the HJ either, 11,000 would be stood outside Tesco. We've had a 76% of stadium capacity attendance in the worst recession since the 30s. In context, a great result. Crowds will be up again next season.
Rosy garden? Britain in frickin bloom more like.

Always amazes me how many people seem to know how much Warrington are paying players.
What is it that people don't understand about the live salary cap?
Several teams have cheated on the cap over the years but we haven't.
We have never broken the cap rules, and I'd put money on us never braking the cap rules.

I don't think it has.
It was proposed but got voted out. On Radio Manchesters Thursday night RL programme three weeks ago the chief execs from Wigan, Saints, Warrington and Salford were on.
Three of them had voted for an increase, one had not. (guess who?)
It appears that apart from two other clubs all the rest had voted to keep the cap at the same level.
The tail is wagging the dog (again)

| Keeping the cap the same is effectively a decrease (yes I know inflation is real low this year). Why should it be different from everywhere elses finances. The cap should increase annually by 1 - 2 % at least to keep pace, especially when the dark side have a larger cap and seem to ignore it anyway. Another Myler who is a half back (stephen) in fact got a herogram from ace RL hater and well known clown Steven Jones this week in the Sunday Times so we need to watch out.

Stephen Myler is playing RU because he can kick, nothing more.

| Awesome signings and a real statement of intent for next season. If these three, combined with your current squad, don't manage to get you to old trafford in 2010 then something is wrong.
Who will be leaving to facilitate these three coming in. Myler and Atkins will be on big money and some number crunching will need to be done to fit them in surely.
I wish Warrington the best of luck for next season. You guys will/should be in the top 3 'mini league' and I hope you can get your name on the trophy if Cas can'do it.

RLFans made-up FACT of the day.
Three voted against an increase one voted for (guess which one can't has the most trouble working within the current cap?).
Colquitt did raise a fair point that he felt there should be a minimum salary cap spend as well as a maximum as that would truly provide a level competition and do more to spread talent around.

Three voted for, Saints, Wire and Wigan. Salford voted against.
Listen again on the radio Manchester blog / i player if it is still available. I also agree with Colquitt, we should not be losing the likes of Lee Smith to Rugby Union.

Why not? You don't seriously think RL can compete with RU when it comes down to £££? It is the unfortunate order of the food chain.
