| Quote: Paul Thexton "The drinking culture thing is nothing shocking and nothing new.
I do believe that our 'drinking culture' is probably more serious than a lot of others, but let's be honest about things here, it's probably not nearly as bad as it was in the semi professional days!
In fact, I seem to recall Eddie Hemmings asking Paul Cullen on the SL show about the drinking culture when he first came back from Whitehaven, Cullen's response was something likeYep, I was talking with my dad about this earlier and some of the players that we had on that 'legendary' team of the late 80's.
This topic also came up in a fans forum at Burtonwood Catholic Club a few years back, with Cullen and Rob Parker on the panel, and Parker stated that it is no worse than any other club, and Bradford was much worse in fact. They were winning at the time though and got no stick for it.
When you look at the trouble players from Leeds and Bradford have been in, and from many NRL players, you can see that people focus on the Warrington issue due to the fact we are under-performing, when I would put the majority of it down to rugby issues.

| Yep ... I can understand the point coming up when, like in seasons past, we'd play well for 50/60 minutes and then completely fall apart, essentially looking completely unfit. I think everyone knows what excessive drinking does to your fitness levels even if you do regularly train.
I don't however understand why this is coming up now, our issues right now are not a fitness issue (unless the being hammered from the 1st minute is down to the players being totally knackered just from the pre-match warmup ?!?!?!)

| It's been mentioned on the SL show, on sky & by at least 2 bbc radio stations this weekend.
It only becomes a problem when it affects their ability to do their job. No one will say that it has (on here) without being able to back it up with a bit of evidence.
Until then, wether true or not, we're just reading between the lines.

| I have no problem whatsoever with a player that likes a drink as long as he`s the model professional in his job, Bob Jackson couldn`t half put the beers away most nights but he was one of our most consistent past performers that always gave 101% + some more as well. I know the game is more professional these days but their is no harm in a player having a beer or two to relax as long as he keeps a professional attitude whilst he is employed as a professional RL player both away from and at the club.

| It tickles me that people (including our own supporters) think it is unique to us.
Ask Saints fans about Long's antics. Ask Wigan fans about Hock. Unfortunately, in a droup of people the law of averages will dictate there will be a few dimwits.

| And another thing! Offiah doesn't even know who half the players are, so how the hell would he know what they get up to.

| You don't see the players out on the town half as much now as you used to 3 or 4 years ago. Unless they drink other places.

It's a metaphor for "lack of professionalism and dedication".
I would love to know if the players were allowed a mickeyup on the bus home. About 5 years ago under PC the players were allowed to drink heavily on the bus back from London, as Mr Briers will be able to testify to.

They did win that day, though, and quite well, too.
