| Quote: Kevin Turvey "it could of course be you not getting it. I think most people expect significant improvement over last season but what they are aren't demanding is some kneejerk response after 6 games. You can't extrapolate a win/loss rate across a whole season from 6 games. Based on last year we wouldn't have won a game all year if that was the case. Instead I, and I suspect many others, will be looking for an improved playing style, structure and attitude based on new personnel and coach. If those are visible after 6 games whether we've won 3 or 6 then I suspect we'll be on a solid improvement gradient which is fine with me after last seasons debacle.
Don't get me wrong, with players like Ratchford, Goodwin, Roberts, Clark, Currie and BMM we could do pretty well this year but it probably needs a little time to get going. Happy to be proved completely wrong by us winning 6 out of 6!'"
This is where I am at. Every coach needs time to deliver, great if it comes early. Don't read into this me being soft on performance. There is absolutely no reason on earth why Warrington cannot be a side that continues to be in the mix for trophies going forward. There is no reason Warrington cannot have mental resolve to win SL, nor is there any reason we should put up with mediocre again. We just need time to clean up and regather after the train wreck. It was appalling last season, I bet there was all sorts going on behind the scenes. And to think some people wanted Tony to remain in place.
Anyway what will be will be. There is zero we can do to influence the results so no point getting animated about it.

I think it will be a stable year all round.
Whatever happens in our first 6 games and beyond I expect our management team to be given time to sort the job out here unless Henderson opts for Wigan when Wane gets his marching orders'"
It's never stable, there will be sackings.
Wane is very vulnerable if they have another iffy season.
Denis Betts - Widnes have a poor squad so will be at the bottom, and he's been there so long the board will see sacking him as an easy option if under pressure to do something.
Rick Stone - feels like Hudds are stuck in mediocrity.
Ian Watson: Salford overachieved last season which usually spells trouble ahead for the coach.

It shouldn't be, all he achieved at London was having a fitter FT team than the PT teams. When the Broncos came up against HKR and Toronto(CC Cup) (FT teams) they were second best. By his own admission when he left he said he had taken them as far as he could which was 2nd out of 2 FT teams.

Two games is a small sample size for judging, you can find a couple of losses for every team over a season. Melbourne Storm had bad losses to Gold Coast and Parra last year.
Although as your name is wire-quin do you watch London games? What did you think of them under Henderson?
I am pretty sure next year when SL clubs start sacking their coaches and the names in the frame are discussed, Henderson will be a front runner for SL head coach.
Hopefully we will be doing well and Henderson will regard this as more stepping stone time rather than jumping ship to an uncertain future at a new club, and then in 2 seasons time, after Price has won back to back Grand Finals with us and he gets an NRL job offer, he can leave us with happy memories and with the succession in place.

Interesting point on Price - the pressure is really on him. If he fails to deliver anything of note in his Head Coach role at Warrington, that will be twice he has not delivered in a top job and he will never get an NRL Head Coach offer. Succeed at Wire and he will have resurrected his career and his stock will have risen.
I like this situation - we will never doubt his commitment to deliver at all costs and I doubt we will finding him shrugging shoulders in press conferences like the results are irrelevant, bad performances are like Acts of God and league position is just another KPI.

| I think Wire could/should go well this season. A collection of experience and exciting players, a new coach which always boosts a team, you should be there or thereabouts towards the play-offs.
The only problems that could arise imo are if the players dont respond to Price, if you get a spate of injuries and if any of the new players get homesick (Roberts).
On paper your first 15 are outstanding and exciting after that I feel its starts to get a little weaker.
Good luck for the season
Matt

No I'm talking 23 or 30 games not 6.
Look.I'm not blinkered to the possibility or no new scrum half early doors but I expect the team with Patton to be almost equally at strong, string enough to get 5/6 at least not 3!'"
You can get 12/1 for Warrington to win their first 5 games of the season with BetFred.

That's pretty poor odds.
I'd expect at around 25/1.
3 games we'd be 5/6 and 2 games at evens is around 24.5/1

| Whilst I don't think we will win all 6 games I still expect us too.
Every wire fan should be expecting 6 from 6. As should the board, as should price, as should everyone involved in the club. losing isn't acceptable no matter what game you're playing and no matter who against.
I know that in reality we'll be doing well to win 4 from 6 and I'll take it as a start (depending on the manner in which we lose) but that doesn't detract from the fact that I demand high standards from the club. That's the difference between Wire and Wigan, Saints and Leeds. Their fans and everyone associated at the club demands success no matter what the cost and anything less isn't acceptable, as a club we're too nice. Under Price I want that to change.

But on that rationale we should expect to win 28/28 though. Even Pep expected his team to lose a game in a season.
I think the difference is this - we should enter every game with a burning desire to win and the belief that we can. I dont think we did that under Tony. In the first few years of his reign we had such quality that results were almost inevitable. When the quality waned we didnt have the burning desire.
The club ambition should be CC and SL double each season. No arguments.

| I want the culture at the club to be a "we can win every game attitude". I think that will be the attitude of Steve Price and his coaching staff. I want the fans and people of Warrington to believe that to. I want the players to believe they can jump tall building and run through brick walls. I want the players to put in 100% every game and leave everything on the park at the end of 80 mins. If we can put all this together maybe, just maybe we can have a successful season.
I am tired of hearing that "we trained great this week, but we were a bit flat tonight" or "we were just off today ". If we lose and I dare say at some time we will, I want to hear we gave everything but today it just wasn't enough.
Firstly I want my team to win and then i would like to be entertained while my team is winning. I want to see my team playing in front of packed houses, where no one wants to leave after an hour. I want to see the Wigan walk and all other visiting supporters leaving early because they have just witnessed their team getting a tonking. I want to hear the talk in the pub before and after the game how great Tyronne Roberts is playing or Big Ben smashed his way to a brace of tries. I want to see the boys at Wembley and Old Trafford and I want to see 2 trophys and a hub cap being paraded around the town on a damp Sunday in October.
That's what I want!! I drive a 220 mile round trip every home game, I have followed this team since 1973 when i was a nipper and I have listened on the World Service to the finals when I was away in some God Forsaken Desert and I deserve it!!

Yes this has to come to end. I believe it will as Price craves success as much as we do.

| All I want to see is honesty balanced somewhere between the professionalism of TS and the passion if Wane might not be far off the mark.
