Monitoring outside for the people inside: |
|
| I've been fortubate enough to see the Wire play 3 times at Wembley. The first two times in the 70's was mostly mad, drink orientated with random violence and vandalism all around.
In 90 it was more civilised, and I remember a gang of Halifax fans gathering round a police women on Wembley way singing "You've lost that loving feelin' as in Top Gun. Her face went brrriiight red, to the amusement of her fellow male colleagues.
I also remenber a fan jumping over a barrier in Wembley way into the road and a car jamming on and literally rocking back and to over him.

I remember that. Didn't they all wear PnB rosettes and spend some time chanting "We are the Yorkshire Wire"?

26672.jpg "The Warrington people hadn't had success for a few years, but there's no speccy in the world as good. They are very knowledgeable and appreciative of hard work. What they like is honesty. They want the team to try; if they fail they fail, but they expect honesty. They know when players don't put it in."

| Its been said, but really, walking through wembley with RL fans from every club and every country milling together, joking between Giants and Wire fans and both sets of fans nervous and excited, knowing that they stand an equal chance of winning
Then the teams come out, abide with me, and the most anticipated cup final in 20 years.
Well dont on getting to the final Wire, obviously I hope you lose, but more importantly, I hope whoever wins, its a game people talk about for years to come as one of the greats of Wembley.

They probably got their ticket before you did, though.

As for Mark M's comments it is totally possible and coherent to be a supporter of a Republic and a patriot. Suggest you inform yourself here
Patriotism n. Love of and devotion to one's country
Well considering the monarchy has long been part of the historical fabric of this country and integral to both our and the outsiders view of us as a nation I would say being patriotic is inexplicably linked to them.
In fact why stop there, our nations flag is the symbol of a Turkish Saint so why not rip that up as well?

It's not integral to my view of a nation, fair enough if it's yours. I wonder how nations such as the US, France, Germany, Eire, Poland, Portugal, Finland and Turkey can get along without a monarchy. Maybe they are all flag burners too?
In closing, the flag of St George had nothing to do with the monarchy moreso a religeous emblem initially used in the Crusades. The royal standard was typically depicted by 3 lions.
Finally, Saint George is the patron saint of Aragon, Catalonia, Ethiopia, Georgia, Greece, Lithuania, Palestine, Portugal, and Russian together with England.

| i cant wait for the journey. Seeing all the Wiremobiles driving down to london. Also instead of the crowd being saints, PnB fill the ground. Though the one thing i really can't wait for is seeing the Wires coming out of the dugout. Tbh, i really can't wait for the whole experiance
