| Quote MorePlaymakersNeeded="MorePlaymakersNeeded"Then why on earth were you tipping him to win the Harry Sunderland Trophy?'"
Because there had to be something he was holding back that he'd let loose in the final.
I got that wrong...fortunately I had a tenner on Roberts and Ratchford for the accolade.

| He was holding nothing back. That was it. We should have an unwritten forum rule never to refer to him again so we can forget the whole sorry saga.

Had you of said that before the GF rather than only tipping Roberts, it would have added a lot more credibility.

It was 14s I couldn't resist for Ratch plus the doubt that Roberts wasnt wasn't anything more than he's been all season.
I take some comfort in knowing he wasn't able to finish his Wire spell on the pitch.
Sandow had his failings but by god he gave everything he could. That's all I ask.

| Perhaps Roberts did give everything, and our mistake was to pay a grossly inflated premium for him doing so.
Anyway, were done with him now and I agree with Wires71 that we close this chapter off.

| RD asked for positive posts only on Roberts, the only positive I can come up with is that he has now played in PnB for the last time

| File him away next to Asotasi under 'stealing a living'.
Never been so happy to see the back of a player.

| IMO He was a lot better than Roy to be fair just not what was expected for a high roller in a pivotal position

| Roberts was signed at the last minute and he clearly rushed a decision, regretting it once he realised what life would be like over here. I suppose we bear some of that accountablity as it was always a risk under the circumstances. At the time I don't think we had much choice in the half back department - nothing available and persisting with Patton wouldn't have got us to two finals.
I don't get the same feeling with Austin and his family - they're already embracing the chance to spend a few years overseas (with their euro trip) and seem to be under no illusions as to the differences between here and home.

Kin ell. He wasn't decamped into some Russian Gulag. He was living (I assume, as most Aus imports do) rent free/cheap in one of the club's Appleton houses, on £250,000 or more.
Yeah, it's hell.
For all his performance level, he should be living in one of the less solubrious parts of the town, with a loan shark threatening to break his knee caps, daily.

Oh hell lefty you haven't got a clue have you? Have you ever lived in Appleton? It's tough.
The Primary school has has produced its fair share of malicious nutters.
