| Wigan gave it their all, scored a couple of good tries aswell. Wasn't good enough though, just shows even without a competetive game St George are better than the Champs.
As for it's only a friendly, give over Wigan and their fans wanted this big time.

| Quote: Ian 77 Redux "Wigan played well but you were outplayed. Comfortably. As for lying on - do me a favour, you won a title adopting those tactics. We've beaten Wigan on regular occasions over the last few years, don't think we need luck to do it again but helpful to see them exposed so badly.
Nice to see Tomkins in tears at the end.'"
Clearly we were watching a different game (and a different team last season). Wigan employ three men in the tackle to control the speed of the play the ball. Getting those guys back to the defensive line is exhausting, which is why few teams in SL can do it. Thankfully Maguire has Wigan extremely well conditioned. It's simply sour grapes to claim it's lying on.
St George were out on their feet for the last ten minutes of that game. They were ALL over the Wigan players in the tackle and then of course miraculously avoided a sin binning for a professional foul on Coley at the end.
Wigan pushed the NRL champions very close. Of course we were outplayed, the NRL is the superior competition. I wasn't expecting to win the game. Very proud of that effort from my team.

| Better team won also for me. How good is Brett Morris, huge aswell for a winger and not short of some speed. Thought Carmont or Coley was Wigan's MOM.
A good effort though by Wigan.

Don't deceive yourself.
You wanted to win the match BAD!!!!
You executed the tactic you are complaining about regularly and worse last year.

There's a reason I'm sat at home - and before you ask, I'm a season ticket holder. To me this was an unnecessary (extremely tough) game for Wigan.
I've made my point on the tackles, I won't do so again.

No, it's quite easy to get back actually. You get off one at a time and the last man up simply becomes the second acting half. Leeds have been doing the same things for years, as have Huddersfield, it's just that Wigan have learnt to do it pretty well.
Are you a Wigan fan? If I'd have been a pie eater I would have been there tonight no matter where I lived.

| Imagine how good ST George will be when they're playing 'in season' when their fitness level will be at its peak...

It was terrible. It was like a church. Nice to see I wasn't only me who picked up on this.
EDIT: Their's a topic on it on the Wigan board.
