What’s good about next years squad?
Isn’t it just this years but with 4 past their prime forwards ?

It's a culture change, to strip down and rebuild. Just seems the processes is either not working or hitting fierce resistance by the team or some of the players. I'm for backing Powell but my resolve is wavering I must admit. Castleford were not this bad with the same coaching set up so I suppose inclined to back him until next season.

Supporters are entitled to their opinions though aren't they?
Let's face it, directors need to know because at the end of the day they need speccies to turn up, buy season tickets, buy replica shirts etc.

This game?
This season?

All this?
And it is getting worse.'"
Things are going very badly. But very few top/successful clubs sack a coach 2/3 of the way into a season.
So you'd have sacked him from the word go? 2/3 games in? 5/6 games in? It's not an exact science Wolf Hall and given all the changes, we needed to give Powell at least up until now. Despite tonight's performance, I think it would have been extremely foolish to sack him 1,2,3 games back when we have had such turmoil.
And to be honest, if we sack him now, we will never really know whether it would have worked out. As I say though, I'm not defending him tonight. But at the same time, if we are to follow the trend of more successful clubs, then we need to give coaches adequate time to turn things around.

Look at the team tonight and tell me how much overhauling is needed for a complete refresh? This team is the result of an almost complete refresh, I believe in most of the players who have played the last couple of weeks and aside maybe a few pack additions that's next years team! But the coaching staff are failing to get any performance out of them. Can't defend, can't attack, can't manage a game, most importantly they don't show any belief, sadly I thinl Powell has lost the confidence of the dressing room, even though its now mostly a dressing room that he has assembled. Maybe now is time, or at the very least if we lose the next 2.

| To be fair he has succeeded in changing the culture and mentality. The previous culture saw us crumble in the first round of the play offs. This new culture sees us crumble at the first score of a try by any opposition.
Lets hope we survive this season and there is a big slice of humble pie waiting next season for those of us who have blinked first and started to lose faith in the project.

If you read my original post from August last year, I was concerned about his appointment then.
I really don't take any pleasure in seeing this season unravel with him in charge.
We may still improve, so be it, I will be happy if I am proved wrong. But for the club and the true supporters, not for the way Powell has decimated the team and its performances. I don't accept his way of managing people, those days have gone. And it doesn't work does it? Look at the evidence. Like you say, be honest.

Answer me this: should utd got rid of Fergie after 1 season? Should Huddersfield have got rid of Watson last season?
Things are incredibly disappointing this season, but it doesn't matter which coach you bring in, you have to give then time. That's what the successful clubs do. Even yourself, who obviously posseses great prophetical judgement, won't really know at this stage given all the changes.
The issue is, how much of a threat is relegation, and if you think it's real, then there is a strong argument to get someone else in.
If not, despite the disappointment, its pointless getting someone else in, especially when he has brought in so many new players.

I suppose I'm in for a penny in for a pound. I'm usually in the get the coach out camp when things are going so wrong but I'm hoping that this seasons pain will give us a better long term outcome.

| Quick question, does anybody still want Thewlis to be starting full back again anytime soon?

He's having a bad few weeks undoubtedly, but we've all agreed thats the trade off in blooding youngsters.
But the senior players? Not an ounce of love for the jersey some of them and the ones that have can no longer transition it into winning rugby.

| Absolutely shocking performance again. There was a burst of optimism when we went up by a few scores and some good runs from the forwards. But how on earth can we go from forcing a drop-out, to conceding a penalty and conceding a try in the next breath. Once they were 4 behind, we all knew what would happen.
I don't see any progress week on week or any signs of what they are doing in training. Truly, truly shocking. That was a must win game, the million pound game is a real possibility now, and I can't see us winning that against a determined side.
This is as bad as the Anderson era.
