| Good research 71. All rather uninspiring...thank heavens Austin can go it alone...and are wingers aren't on piece work with commission.

| Quote: Alffi_7 "Would of thought the answer was quite simple?
We don't NEED to loan Atkins out, but it depends how Price is thinking. If he expects Burrell to be able to come in and do a job at centre then maybe he feels with Mamo & Burrell covering wing & ccentre we can use Atkins Salary Cap value better elsewhere in the squad. Maybe he feels we are lacking in the prop department, or maybe it would allow us to bring in a 2020 signing over early and allow them to acclimatise (not suggesting Widdop).
It seems as though he's going nowhere though if his WG interview is anything to go by.'"
Moving a player on who is under contract doesn't free up his wages as cap space, it may save us some money but it couldnt be used as extra cap space.
For this reason, and also because atkins is a lot better than most of our fans give him credit, there is no benefit to warrington in letting him go for part of this season. If he wants to leave and we aren't going to offer a contract he will be a great signing for a number of superleague teams and I'm sure the vast majority would wish him well for the service he has given to us.

This is true. Possibly redeemed himself after two knock ons before that.

And then let himself down abit by not managing to score... I'd probably say Atkins is behind Goodwin and Mamo in the centres at the moment

Behind Goodwin (just) and King (out best centre), no way is he behind mamo at centre!

| I think Mamo edges it because he's got a better passing game...

Haven't seen enough to make that comparison, in the one game I have seen mamo play at centre I thought he did well but I wasn't exactly purring at mamos creativity or passing. Atkins does pass, not always the best decision maker but he does. Atkins try scoring record suggests that he has been right to back himself often enough. He also never shies away from a carry, breaks the line and has a very powerful go forward winning fast Ptb. Atkins isa good centre and has been an excellent signing, stop dwelling on his weakness and appreciate what he brings. I think Goodwin is the same as atkins in terms of plus points and minus points but I've never seen a post panning goodwin or calling for him to be dropped for mamo. He doesn't deserve to be a scapegoat IMO.

| Atkins try saving tackle was immense and very few, if any, of the backs in the squad would have had the strength, technique and awareness to pull it off.
Letting him go early would be madness.

I think we play the game a bit differently. Most of the wingers tries have come from a pass from Ratch or Austin/Patton. The centres aren’t given the opportunity to lay a pass on to the winger.

| Where he bombed that 100:1 odds on chance and failed to ground the ball for a try is classic Atkins. I thought it would be impossible not to score in that situation. Amazing.

| I suppose it was a typical Atkins game. He did fantastically well to prevent the try, was aggressive in the tackle, but his ball handling skills let him down. If we could cross Toby King and Ryan Atkins genes I think we would have a really good centre.
Meanwhile there is still no news of Goodwin signing a new contract. I would be really disappointed to lose him for next year.

That’s by far his biggest strength these days, and is easily overlooked. He’s obviously not the try-scoring threat he once was, but a lot of tries come straight off the back of his quick PTB after broken play.

I googled Ryan King and for good measure Toby Atkins and here's results Ryan King "Copperknob Line dancing" Toby Atkins "anti dope cycling whistle blower".
Take your pick Chaz I'm going for Ryan King I like a rebel and he seems like a bit of a hoot he might have a decent side step and wont just stand with his hands on his hips tutting
