| He drives the ball in hard, he is tough in the tackle and frequently first man in. He hasnt dropped much ball or given away many penalties! No he hasnt made 50 yrd breaks or scored 15 tries, but he hasnt done that for the last 10 years. He is a tough as nails prop who leads form the front.
Good signing for me !!

Are you watching South Sydney replays?
He's done nothing of note this season and being the second best prop behind Chris Hill isn't hard considering we have 2 rookies in Riley and Evans and a super league debutant England.
Along with Chris Hill our back rowers have pulled us out the proverbial.
I'm not making him a scapegoat as no win or loss as been as the result of Roy, i'm just saying his effort and application is way off what i expected, he's rank average and a shocking example of the state of the quality in this country.
If he was someone who had come through our system and a young lad i could accept his level of performance, but as he's a quota space that came with a big rep and apparently ex NZ international (obviously their crapper years) and [guessing] earning more than some of the younger homegrown players it's a shocking buy.
As for him making me eat my words...i want him to, that's exactly what i want. Prove me wrong Roy, start looking like someone who cares. If all we wanted was a tackling machine we could have brought in Casti or Washbrook for half the cost.

| Not angry
Best way to describe it is
Lips raised higher on the left side of my mouth, eyes looking high diagonally to the left, 3 light negative head shakes and ending in a pfff noise from blowing out my lips.
I'd hazard a guess at 'despondent' or 'miffed' as my actual feelings.

| To be honest, when did we last sign a front-line (e.g:- State of Origin or international level) prop who cut the mustard? Maybe the roles, demands and expectations of props here as opposed to the NRL are different.
Dunno, maybe not. Maybe he's just a lazy sod.
What I do know is I can name you a dozen props off the top of my head I'd rather see in the P&B at the moment based on the evidence thus far.

| I don't understand the beef with big Roy. The expectation of an Aus / NZ prop playing for us is over the top. If we would have signed Civoniciva a couple of years ago or Brent Kite we would probably be having the same debate and they played plenty of rep games. There are props who just do the little things pretty well. They may not bust the line all season, they may not carry five defenders on their back for an extra 5 yards (to then have the slowest play the ball all game). Would you prefer Kylie From Leeds because he has not made a break for 3 years (awaits the stats to prove me wrong). Roy will be just fine. Tony Smith does not pick many wrong uns. The

Errrm what little things? Personal grooming, punctuality and cooking ability? As for Kyle at Leeds, based on evidence this season and nothing else, I'd have both him and Peacock over big Roy.

| The issue for me with Asotasi is why did we release Morley?
Presumably the argument was, yes Morley was a great player 2 or 3 years ago, but it's about 2014 and he's not what he was. Fine I can accept that....as long as we don't sign a player who fits exactly the same category.
As for Carvell leaving that was a terrible blow for us. With Carvell and Hill in our team, the opposition was always going backwards. Taking Carvell out meant we needed a seriously good replacement. Assuming Asotasi is the like for like 'once great but now past his best' replacement for Morley, who is the replacement for Carvell....England?
We are not the team we are because we have just let the quality go down.
It's annoyed me that Carvell has re-signed for Hull. He's my all time favourite Wire prop even above Morley. Who knows what went on with contract negotiations or whatever but we haven't come out of it well in the front row and there's a heck of a lot of pressure on Hill now to carry us when he should be spearheading a feared front row.

| Carvell leaving wasn't a blow SC.
Can count on 2 fingers how many he has played.
Recruitment is the blow.

That's nearly a good point.
When players try things and they come off then that's great when they don't come off you take a balanced view that everyone makes a mistake now and again but at least he's trying.
Asotosi isn't making mistakes but doesn't appear to be trying either so he's either not got the talent that we expected or doesn't care. I really hope he proves us wrong and is sussing out the comp, playing a little bit within himself to provide us with some better performances later on in the season.
FWIW I think this 'settling in' excuse is a cop out he's a senior professional that has played at the top level not some young kid going to boarding school for the first time...Come on Royston show us what youi've got.

| The thing that niggles me more than anything is that he must be costing us a quite a whack. And at the moment, he looks as though he is here purely to boost his retirement fund.

Then it's the chairman fault for giving a player of his age the salary he is probably on!

I think if this fella was genuinely not trying . The fans would not be the first people to point this out

I agree, hence the use of the word "appear" in my point as a reference to the untrained eye (mine and others on here)and without seeing the guy at close quarters and in training every day....
I'd still like a bit more ooomph to be honest and I don't need him to running round like a mad man just a spark, an indication that he is in charge, a top dog will do for now.
