| Quote: Snaggletooth "Surely you can recall such high class tunes from our neighbours as "ohhh w**ky w**ky" and so on and "s**t Helen" from our fans plus various others, which when sung by a large numbers come across as as bit neanderthal, especially when the good folk from tv land are there.
Me i just want to go and watch a good game the atmophere is what it is.'"
Drowning it out before the match didn't stop it from being sung during the match.

| Was a bit flat again tonight, which for a derby is disappointing. I guess the crowd were just expecting to win...
Mind you, it was less cringeworthy than the inbreds and the one chant they brought along

| The atmosphere in the Hull derby is something else, they always are from what you see on sky. Credit to both sets of fans, it must be great for the players to play in that sort of atmosphere.

| I think one of the reasons we don't hear football style chanting at the HJ is because we have something to watch on the pitch, whereas football crowds tend to chant to relieve the boredom of what they are witnessing. As for noise surely the south stand sound loud for north stand spectators.

That must mean a union ground is rocking from kick off to final whistle.

Headingley has always had a good atmosphere from start to finish, over the years they have certainly had something to watch on the pitch.
With modern, community style stadiums i think the type of supporter your now getting is totally different to the vocal, hard core RL fans of the 80's, 90's and early 2000. A lot of the fans are families, its like a family atmosphere in these comfy new, purpose built RL stadiums. You get the hard core fans in one stand but the noise isn't spread around the stadium.
RL is being marketed as a family game which is certainly no bad thing, its just the atmosphere will never be that intimidating anymore, it will be more toned down with the occasional bit of roar.

Do you think the South Stand is full of familes? I stand near the halfway line at the top and I would say 90% of those stood around me are male, Aged 17-50. I don't know if this is the same all along the stand.

| We lack atmosphere, simply because of our clientelle
In the last 8 years, we've acquired approx 5000 new fans. It's that simple. They weren't used to/never experienced a Lancs Cup Semi v Widnes, a New Year's day v Wigan, a second half comeback after a Tony Barrow bollocking at half time. We've got a lot of new fans, who aren't used to a "Wilderspool atmosphere". It's got cock all to do with the acoustics, if you want to make noise, you make noise...simple. The Fletcher End didn't have to "sing" The Great Escape (cringeworthy, at ANY sporting event), to intimadate the opposition, they just DID it. It's a bit sad really, but, atmosphere depends on opposition.
Worriers and Stains are exceptions
Leeds don't travel in any numbers now
Bradford has dwindled down to "one man and his dog"
The Wids didn't bring many (only to be expected) last night
Wakey and Cas are poor reflections of what their travelling support used to be.
Add this to Cats, London (and Crus, recently going down a division) not bringing many, the atmosphere was always going to struggkle

| I thought it was a decent atmosphere against Widnes, good bit of banter between the Widnes fans and us. I didn't quite get them singing "It's always your year" considering they have won nothing of note for 20 years and are currently pap. We need to respond to that chant with "There's always next year, always next yeeeear, just like the last one, there's always next year". It shows we have the ability to laugh at ourselves a little and nulifies there chant.

But if you go down to the front of the South stand, especially around the 20meter line at both end its full of either "families" or "parent &child"
