17064.jpg How can I miss you, if you won't go away????:17064.jpg |

| How can Briers and Farrell be compared??...
Farrell is probably one of the last great RL players, Briers has been the catalyst for a fairly mediocre period in the history of Warrington RL...
Personally, I can't wait for the departure of Briers, not because I dislike him so much, just that it will end the era of silly threads like this.
There are better half backs out there who could replace Briers...unfortunately for Wigan, there have been no great leaders out there who could ever replace Farrell.

1883.jpg Didn't William Webb Ellis pick up the ball and run, someone should really tell Rugby Union.

Why isn't it? When things were going wrong, Wigan looked to Farrell to pull them out of the , Warrington did and still do look to Briers to try and turn things round.
So why the heck isn't it?

Farrell usually did pull them out of it, when the chips were down and Wigan were struggling Farrell could up his game and turn a loss into a win, when did Briers ever do that, never. Briers sometimes plays well when Warrington are doing well, and he will be instrumental in those wins, but when we're under the cosh you never see him take a game by the scruff of the neck and turn our fortunes around....Briers just lies down limply like the rest.
Farrell was twice Man of Steel, the ultimate professional, calm figure in a crisis, a born leader who took his team to Grand Finals and Challenge Cup Finals and sometimes won them. Briers was a talented but inconsistent player who had a spoilt attitude on the field spitting his dummy out at referees, and set a bad example off the field to his team-mates.
The good news for us is we won't nearly miss Briers as much as Wigan missed Farrell, because it is far easier to replace Briers than Farrell. If Briers' contract isn't renewed at the end of this season then I'll bet anybody that Tony Smith has a better player and person than Briers coming in for 2010.

Clearly he has never done this in the past and thus has never deserved to be in a final, i suspect that the same scenario will occur tomorrow.:30555.jpg |

Fantastic, you have to go back 4 years for a comparison to when we can play without Briers.

He's missed his fair share of injuries, without him, we've tended to struggle.

Should never be used in the same sentence!! There is no doubt that on his day, he is a class act, unfortunately, he only seems to have half a dozen "good days" a season. I look at all the other teams that have been successful in the Superleague era and ask myself, "did they have Half-Backs that were as inconsistant as ours throughout their successful periods? "No", most certainly not! I also cant get my head round why certain fans cant see that there are better no 6`s in the world of Rugby League, we need a new face and more importantly, a change in direction on the field of play. Briers has been a good servant to the club, of that there is no doubt, but the time for change came and went a couple of seasons ago and untill we get consistant performers in our ball playing positions, we as fans will have to put up with many more seasons like this and seasons past.

Apologies. (still shouldnt be used in the same sentence though, ), it just astounds me that people think that Briers is the be-all and end-all with regards to Warrington Rugby League Club. He has been a good servant, he has been a good player, but unfortunately, he has come to the end of his time, "as all players ultimately do"!!! We need a fresh face and a change of direction on the field of play, (and not just in the no6 spot) and untill someone opens their eyes and sees this, we will be going nowhere fast!! (As we seem to be proving this season). On a plus point, i do think we have the right man at the helm now in TS, he will address our problems, (it will take time though), and put us on the right track, "but he has to be allowed to carry out his changes, whatever they may be, without outside influences"!!!

| The balance of the team was wrong, we had a hooker at half back, 2 back rowers in the centre, and another one on the wing.
The amazing thing is that given it was a battle of one out rugby we should have won as we had forwards all over the park - the difference between the 2 sides was Myler's creativity.
Bridge worked us a couple of tries but wasn't on the field for the full game.
Monas should be competing for the hooking role.
I'd rather see Grix given a shot at 6 alongside Bridge than continue with Monas at 7.
