| Unfortunately, because Hill has a reputation for giving away penalties, he's now being targeted by the opposition, the officials and his critics. I'm not sure how many times he was pinged last night but at least one was very harsh.

| We do have players with the ball leaping in the air when they should be playing the ball (as if they have been shot). The referee then has to make a decision who is at fault. It does not help having the ref. 10 yards away. This part of the game is getting silly as players keep play acting/cheating. Catalan at home are the worst offenders but all teams are at it.
I'd like the two referee idea tried as soon as we can. If the "lead referee" stood alongside the tackle area ... it ought to help. The "second/assistant" referee could mark the offside line. Surely we could find enough refs. to act as the second/assistant ref. ... their main job would be to police the offside line.

| The histrionics at the play the ball are getting beyond a joke now, to the point I suspect teams spend as much time coaching how to milk.penalties as they do anything elae.
It was noticeable that the first penalty for lying on for us came when Philbin came on, simply because he bucked and kicked on the floor (legitimately) to emphasise he was being slowed down.
Either we have become the most lazy, ill-disciplined team in the comp or we are being targeted by the opposition in certain areas.

| Quick stat comparison between our props from last night (just to take the biased views out of it)
Westwood 114m at an average of 10.36m 7 tackles no misses no pens conceded
Hill 103m average 7.92m 31 tackles no misses 2 pens
Cooper 88m average 8.8m 35 tackles 2 misses no pens
Philbin 79m average 6.08m 21 tackles 2 misses 1 pen
Tasi 44m average 8.8m 15 tackles 1 miss 1 pen
So that tells me for impact off the bench look at Westwood whilst all round contribution you can't go wrong with Chris Hill.
Stats also say the Daryl Clark was stand out man of the match which is hard to argue with having watched the match live and again on tv.

| Dc was definitely my MoM. How Sky selected BMM I still don't understand. Not that he didn't play well, just don't think he was the biggest contributor.
I think it is being very harsh on last nights showing to refer to Hill as a "penalty machine". One of the penalties was laughable. To suggest we play worse when he is on the field... unbelievable.
I did think some of the tackles early doors by Cas could have been penalised, but what on earth got Charnley into such a rage? Definitely a bit of "yard dog" in him!
Great to see Ben C back on the pitch and looking confident in his leg, much more so than last time.
Finally, there was one Touch Judge that seemed to spend more time on the pitch than most players, is this a new directive?

| Play the balls are a joke now, just as farcical as scrums.
I get annoyed with referees telling certain players they’re offside and shifting them back, then toe tackles later he pings anither two guys for being off, with no warning. Either penalise them all or stop with the random warnings. If you see it, call it, don’t just warn.

| Lets not forget the first 20 min - I don't think we managed to get in their 20-30 m area, and our defensive line stood still and watched the Cas attack. Hardly surprising that they made good ground down the middle. That seemed to change around the time that Philbin came on who was his usual bundle of energy, and after that we increased the speed of the PTB and attacked the Cas men with the ball. But in that first 20min it was probably only our high completion rate that kept us in the game.
I thought their right wing ( Clare ?) was a bit dodgy for our tries. Toby King did really well closing down Shenton so all that work in the BR has obviously paid off for him. Ditto the other comments made about Currie, he looked very confident. If he makes a full recovery I reckon he will be the next captain as he has a rugby brain as well as the talent. Clark enjoyed himself. He was given too much space by Cas in the second half. Mamo (Lineham's replacement ?) looked sharp. Charnley looked a bit tired and struggled with some of the aerial warfare.
A good win and a nice break before the battle with our dear neighbours next week.

| Hughes did well for his try, there was nothing on when he got the ball. He also looked rather hacked off when Mamo dropped his pass!

| I loved that last night.... You could see the players were keen to make an impression after last week.. BMM mentioned last week post match and so did price... There has obviously been alot of discussion amongst the players and staff about putting that right and it showed... The coach made changes and the players stepped up their intensity.
There were some outstanding displays from the pack, who really set the foundation for this win by smashing cas pack to pieces.... Philbin, Cooper, BMM, Hill.... But the stand outs for me were Clark and Westwood... Clark was EVERYWHERE.
Austin again looked like a real threat ..... I love the way he runs at the line and makes those little passes for runners to thunder onto. The BMM try was an obvious example of this. But when you watch him closely, he is always looking for that kind of option... defenders dont know if he is going straight past them, or if the man next to him is. Once the rest of the players get fully switched into his game, we will see what a threat he really is. I'm really excited about him.
Patton was steady... He recovered well from a few terrible kicks to make that superb pass for Mamo's try... I'm hoping an extended run in the team will see him mature and get confidence, which will hopefully mean we begin to see less of the mistakes.
Great to see Curry back as well..... plenty of positives from last night.
Great game.

| What a difference it makes when the ball doesn't keep ending up on the floor. Very good completion rate, four well taken tries and still look strong defensively. Penalty count against us could still be reduced, especially on the last tackle. For Jon Wells to say if both sides play to their potential then Castleford win, showed yet more ill judged bias from him. He should not give opinions were there's a conflict of interest, there's enough sticking their oar in as it is.

I am in no doubt, whatsoever, that RD watched that game last night and thought Patton was the best player on the pitch.

| Quote: ratticusfinch "Indeed regardless of the shape of the opposition our response was much better than that of old. Price has us in excellent shape. We're 4 from 5 and we're nowhere near our potential. We're looking tidy. Just like to say my MOM was Philbin....he was excellent when he came on and if he was wearing a red v he'd be getting pawed to death (he's better than Lees and Knowles).'"
So now you’re comparing a 24 year old prop (with much more experience) to a 21 year old prop and a 22 year old loose forward. Another excellent post which sums up the knowledge of Warrington fans.
