| Saints dominated the second half, lack of game time in the lead up to the final didn't help Castleford's cause. Overall, best team on the day won.

| One win in eight finals for Powell now. Should fit in well at the Wire.
That’s just a joke before anyone gets upset!

| I saw nothing to give me hope for next year, either from the incoming coach or our new signings, bar one kick and one brain fart from Matautia.

| We might have a chance if we keep hold of our current conditioning staff. Cas ran out of energy & ideas after the hour mark.

Probably something to do with them not playing for two weeks (or whatever it was) I suppose.

But on paper Saints should have walked it. If Cas hadn’t blown 2 chances before half time I think they would have won. Saints don’t tend to recover from a few scores down. The half time hooter did them a massive favour, as well as the potential knock on decision on Percival when Grace scored early in the second half.
Saints were the best team overall though, but Cas can be proud.

| Cas' inability to set up for a dg before half time cost them big.

Yeah, this. We were shouting at the telly each time they got near to the posts in the last ten minutes of the first half, going two scores ahead would've changed the entire psychology of the half time team talks, with Saints likely beginning to consider the day becoming a rerun of their 2019 nightmare.
As it stands we had to endure seeing the walking corpse eamonn mcmANUS creeping around the pitch like an unwanted pervy uncle at a family do, in a plastic hat. No letters to the RFL. this year, I take it?

| I was thinking about the kicking game. At the end of nearly every Saints set they forced Cas. to play out from deep in their own half, whilst Cas rarely managed decent last tackle kicks. That all meant Cas. were rarely attacking the Saints line and had to rely on scoring from deep. Added to that all the work their forwards had to get through to move back down field left them pretty ragged by the second half. So I think this was a major factor in the game.

Yes, that did sort of remind me of a trip to Southport with my mum and dad many moons ago. Everybody was looking in stunned silence at this 5-6 year old girl that was stamping her feet and screaming at the top of her voice. She was clutching an empty cone in her hand whilst a golden labrador happily licked up the ice cream ball at her feet.

What's bitter about my post? It's a fact that your chairman is a creepy old harbinger of souls! The better team won, but that doesn't change the fact.
