| terrible, terrible.
Manny knew exactly what to do and was much too quick for Hatton.
Ricky started off well getting Manny to the ropes but was walking onto punches and was knocked down in first round after Pacquio dodged a left jab.
Hatton went down again towards the end of the first round getting up at the 8 call, going back to his corner he looked shocked and even his trainer seemed stumped on what to do.
Then with not even half of the second round gone Pacquio came in and struck Hatton clean on the chin, knocking Hatton straight out.
Whilst the crowd around Ricky looked concerning he got up and walked out of the ring, didn't give any interviews due to not feeling well enough, however Freddy Roach did plenty of scathing to make up for it. Shame when Ricky and Manny seem to get on very well personally.
End of day however Manny Pacquio outclassed Hatton. If it went further into the fight, it may have been more even but Hatton was defending the right, he was open to the left.
I can only see retirement now, a big money fight against a lowly fighter would be what the fans would want but not Ricky.

Wasn't even one of the fastest of punches but nicely placed.

| How Hatton made is millions is beyond me. He's a fighter, not a boxer.
Got to retire now, he can't handle actual boxers. He should feel bad about letting the whole of Britain down again, he fooled everybody into thinking he had changed under Mayweather, but in the end he just embarrassed himself and British boxing.
Step up Froch, Khan and Haye.

Interesting you say that, as Froch and Haye have both been able to do what Hatton has never been able to, and that is leave the comfort zone of the UK crowds, and win fights as underdogs against good, classy opponents.
Hatton's defeat though, was absolutely no surprise to anybody with an ounce of boxing logic, only the sheer speed of his defeat had any element of surprise....Any boxer who chooses to defend with his face will ultimately be wiped out by any top class fighter...

Was very surprised at the lack of defence on show from Ricky, didn't look like he'd improved at all, actually looked to have gone backwards. If i'm being honest, he probably shouldn't have made it out of the first round. Ricky, its been good, please step down while theres still time. Throw my support behind Haye now.

| I was never surprised by the result, I was just surprised at how quick it was over. Hatton made the exact same mistakes he made against mayweather the only difference is that the pac man is more technical and more explosive than hatton and hatton was dutifully punished for his errors. Two failed attempts to make the next final step up and now it's time to hang up your gloves Ricky. Thanks for the memories.

| Ricky Hatton is a top bloke and has been an incredibly tough fighter over the years, I think the sad fact is his lifestyle has been a limiting factor. All through the build up in the Hatton v Mayweather fight I hated the fact that team Hatton seemed to make a joke out of the contrast between the beer swilling pie eating Hatton and the teetotal fitness obsessive Mayweather. Then this one it made me cringe with that song they played when Hatton came out singing about he's never seen a salad, he ate all the pies etc. His mates probably thought it was funny but at the top of sport things like that make a difference and it made him look stupid when he got battered.
A great boxer but you wonder if he could have gone the extra mile against the very best if he had been a dedicated trainer, when you look at the best British sportsmen, Steve Redgrave, Chris Hoy, Joe Calzaghe, they have that relentless drive and self sacrifice to be the best. Hatton didn't, he knew he had lots of ability and he got by on that ability and his toughness, for so long, but against the very best he didn't have enough.

| Hatton should retire now, when growing up i bet he never imagined he could have gone so far in the sport. Every fight from now on would be a backward step for him as the elite fighters will no longer view him as a fight that would have people queing up to part with their hard earned money on pay per view, he has been a good fighter and has made a good living from the sport but he lacks that out and out class that would have sperated him from the pack.
He should take Freddie Roach`s advice and retire to spend the rest of his life with his family and not risk getting something like parkinsons disease from the numerous beatings he could take in the future, he will be financially secure so won`t need to fight on, if he wants to stay in boxing then he could become a promoter which seems the fashionable thing to do these days with fighters and ex fighters.

Yeah, I agree. His times over.
He's likeable as a character, he'll make a living through this should he choose to, but it's time I think to face facts, and go semi-gracefully.

He has moved into promotions for the past x amount of months, needless to say he doesn't need the worries of another fight.
