| The impressive thing about yesterday was most of our try’s scored were proper rugby league free flowing efforts.. the spine of this team are playing some fantastic rugby along with the support players all doing their part as well. Massive credit to SB and MG for getting these team to the levels the players are showing and you get the feeling things are going to get better

We have come a long way from the high cross field kick to King plan A, B and C.

| Haven't watched it second time round yet but I thought Philbin had a good game & got a few extra cheers from the fans for his efforts with the hard yards.

Has Gleeson been our most important signing? Think it was an excellent move to poach him from his promised job in the USA.

Hard to believe he is at the coaching level he is at now, given he was given the boot by Tony Smith and later Wigan did the same.
He seems to have turned his life around since those days.

Pace and width. With Ashton and Thewlis on either flank, the opposition has to hold its width in defence. By virtue of them holding their width, there are bigger gaps in the middle of the park for Dufty and Williams to exploit. It's really simple but leads to very attractive rugby. They are also weapons that, sadly, Wigan have too. Tactics for the final will be fascinating.

Completely agree. Our attacking options / plays seem to have increased exponentially since he joined. Add to that the better use of a players strengths eg Currie @13 and Dusty feeding off plays close to the opposition line, and you now see a dangerous attacking side playing attractive rugby. As 71 remarked, the days of the high ball to King and constant kicking through are long gone and now just form some of the attacking options we have available.

| I'd say we under utilise the kick to King option these days!

It would still be a useful thing to do ... & could be resurrected at any time. But at the time we seem to use it so much & it was virtually our only "not so cunning" plan.

Agreed - from what I remember TS was right to get rid of him at the time, but it shows that if you do give people a 2nd chance they can redeem themselves.
It was the same with Lee Briers - and after listening to a podcast he did some time ago I can fully understand and appreicate how and why things got out of hand, and have massive respect for him turning things around.
Going back to Gleese, I am really suprised how well he has developed as an attack coach in a relatively short space of time (including his previous stints in RU). It makes me wonder what our previous attack coaches were doing.....

Watching Wigan vs Hull KR, they don't half compress their defence, especially in the opponents half. I think they will be vulnerable if we can shift it wide at pace like we did against Saints and Huddersfield.
I also like the idea of high kicks to Field.
Going to be interesting to see how it pans out. We are rightly underdogs - just as we like it.

Shifting it wide has worked against everyone so far, even catalans big pack.
We're gonna have to work hard to contain nsemba, though you can see fitz and dufty giving him some work in defence.
Tai in defence could be a worry,

I said this to my dad the other week, King is a different player now evidently cus we never kick to him anymore. But now that even the BBC's dream team on Sunday has noticed our latest 4th-tackle "give it to Dufty" ploy, maybe you're right we bring back the kick to King option!

I like Nsemba he’s big unit, good hard runner on the edges, his defence at times looks iffy. Has the odd penalty in him as well.. Wigan have got two very good seconds in Walter’s and Nsemba
