| Quote: Gazwire "I'm not too pessimistic. It's still early days and Roberts is still recovering from a knee injury; by the way, I didn't think Barba was anything special tonight. The mistakes are killing us. We haven't got a cat in hells chance of getting in any game with 12 penalties against us plus mistakes. Let's be patient and and wait for the weather to change- I think things will turn around for the better in tandom with some easier fixtures.'"
The weather Gaz?!....what excuse will Saints use then?

They should have gone to a pensioners knitting group on a damp Monday morning. They'd have had more idea on Smith's successor

| The effort and defence structures has improved under Price but the quality of the squad is in decline.
We made more mistakes than Saints because the Warrington players are poorer than their saints counterparts.
We have half a squad of super league players and half a squad at championship level.
Usual suspects, really doesn't take a grade A coach to pick up the dross
Joe Philbin
George King
Toby King
Kevin Brown
Jack Hughes
Mitch Brown
Dec Patton

| Massive issue not sacking smith mid season last year. All those ' well who do you get?' Idiots that gave him time.....well Justin holbrook and ben barba perhaps? We hang around for scraps as usual. Get ruthless wire or continue to be embarrassing also-rans.

| I mean FFS saints sacked someone immortalised in bronze outside their ground....we gave unnecessary time to a big-nosed sociopath that got lucky with his inherited squad.

| I was quietly worried about tonight, seeing the way you ground out a result against Wigan at home, I feared we might be headed for the same. At half time I knew we'd win. You had so much pressure tonight, so many repeat sets in and around our 20 and you could have played till the Summer holidays and not scored from open play. Our defense is pretty solid at the moment, Holbrook has got that side sorted it seems, but still, your attacking play was so predictable, so slow and so easy to defend against. We weren't great tonight, arguably our worst half of the season in the first half. Ben Barba had probably his quietest game of the season but still had the quality when it mattered with the double pump to send Atkins into Dominos looking for the first pass. Luke Thompson and Dom Peyroux probably the best two forwards on the field, both having sensational games.
You probably won't like me saying this, but your whole club reminds me of Saints under Cunningham. The crowd was there, but silent throughout, despondent and resigned to the inevitable. When the Wire have a chance of winning the place can be bouncing, you didn't get into the game at all. Like Cunningham's Saints you are trying to be solid defensively and grind it out by playing percentages. But again like Cunningham's Saints you don't look fit, you are making mistakes in defense, giving needless penalties away and not gelling in attack. Give it another month and then force the club into making changes, make yourselves heard, demand change.
As for individual performances from Warrington tonight I thought Cooper did really well. He stood up to our pack, when the likes of Crosby and Hill in particular were hiding. Benny tried his best, but he's struggling now. Brown, Ratchford and Roberts all very poor. What separates Saints and Wire at the moment and probably in general is the quality of our young players. Luke Thompson was the best player on the pitch today, Matty Lees not looking out of place either and Richardson's development v Dec Patton's another comparison that doesn't make great reading for your development of young prospects. Wire's young players just don't seem to kick on and develop. I had thought Livett would be a top player, but another one who struggled tonight to get into the game, Philbin doing nothing bar running in at third man with his shoulder. The King brothers, who should both be at Batley or Oldham by now, why are they still in your team? Still, not the end of the world. SL is pants and even with that squad you're still in with a shout of the top 4, or you should be.
One thing that worried me tonight was Daryl Clark. I appreciate you don't have a backup hooker, but he clearly got a pretty decent knock to the head. He looked like he was on a three day bender in Blackpool after that, he dropped the ball two out of the next three times he got the ball and looked ill for the rest of the game. Surely he should have at least gone off to be tested?

Why worry about Clark... he was second fiddle to Roby by some distance.

| The defensive line was good last night, Saints were struggling to break through early on but the penalties and mistakes repeatedly put Warrington on the back foot.
That led to fatigue late on and Saints fan in extra tries.
The Warrington players put a lot of effort in last night but effort isn't enough. A pair of good half backs would transform the side.
Brown should be in the Championship and Roberts back in Australia

I don't think it is. For me, your coach comes across as one of the most uninspiring people I have seen in charge of a Super League team. How on earth he expects his team to respond and get sparked up with his utter dullness is a mystery. I don't say this with any degree of arrogance because Aussie coaches are a lottery, but when you see someone like Holbrook interviewed you can feel how connected he is to the players and the outcome - his enthusiasm rubs off and you can see that watching him in the stands. Your guy looks like an angry man who doesn't quite know any other way.
Tony Smith may have been past his sell by for sure but I am not sure you have picked a leader in Steve Price.
On the plus side I do think there's some improvement in you over last night, as indeed we are likely to drop off at some point. It is still very early with lots of new signings and a new coach.

| Price was a bizarre appointment in the first place. Just seeing what the St George fans had to say on him said it all never mind his appalling record with them. He couldn’t sound any more miserable as well. It might only be early on in the season and you might have a thin squad but if I was a Wire fan I’d be expecting a lot better at this stage, not the 5 drives and a high kick to the corner.

I think its a stretch to say we are in with a shout of top 4 ...but factually at least for the moments its correct as we have won one game less than 4th placed leeds....
but everything else you say is absolutely spot on......

| Just thought I'd give some praise to Benny for last night. He was battering everything in sight for the first quarter before he went off. Nobody else was putting in that level of effort and he continued when he came back on. Quiet on here about his performance but i'm sure when he has an average game next week he'll be picked out for criticism.

| Saddened referrring to the knock to Clark's head where holbrook was fuming at the game being stopped to see how he was? Nice chap. No one was moaning when we had to stop because walmsley can't tackle properly.
