| Just read through all 5 pages & can't believe the amount of negativity that some people come up with. Smithy took a calculated risk to keep our senior players fit not only for next week but for the play offs @ the back end of the season, what's more it payed off & we won.
Not only that but he has given our youngsters valuble game time which will do their confidence a world of good & improve them for the future. Lets face it the majority of us here had not heard of Dwyer or Currie before this season & they have both come into the team & performed well.

| It was a very bold and positive decision by Smithy to leave so much talent and experience out. It paid off in plenty of ways as Lefty said, no harm done. The only negative I can think of is continuity of the team working together. But how much this will affect us next week, I've no idea.
It's definitely a bright future for Wire, I can't see why there's so many "pot half empty" people on here? Imagine being a Widnes fan, you'd be suicidal.
Slightly O/T - our effectively second string team beat a play-off contending side today. Does this again not highlight there's too many average teams in the league or too many places available in the play-offs?

I don't know if you heard the CC draw on tues morn or not? but when Leigh were drawn out, the next team drawn were - SUPER LEAGUE CHAMPIONS - ........................................................................LEEDS - I thought we were champions by WINNING THE LEAGUE?????'"
Don't start this again. Leeds ARE the SL Champions. Wire won the League Leader's shield. You have to get to the GF and win it to be champions.

| and Tony Smith has so obviously decided that Challenge Cup and Grand Final can best be approached by rotating the squad more than he did last year. I guess home play off tie is the priority, not finishing top, although we'd all like that. We all hate seeing our team lose (although we've only lost away at Catalans and Leeds and at home to St Helens this year; we've beaten the top two away from home) but we'd soon forget even a loss away at Widnes if we win the Grand Final.

| I don't think anyone can really take anything away from yesterdays performance in general. The main problem was the lack of experienced playmakers so the lads had to come up with different ways of creating try scoring opportunities which ,in itself , limited our scope for actually scoring tries. Yes, there were some head scratching incidents at times but we managed to come out of it with a win.I was also pleased that we managed to keep our penalty count down.

Yep. The 1st one that we conceded came in the 45th minute.

What will Man City be next week?? (if they don't bottle it! )
Leeds are 'top eight' team, play off champions - by winning 3 games!
I do agree with the format though, because the RFL and Rugby League in general needs promoting, and this does the job.

Just comparing what is topical at the minute - my point being that not enough is done to celebrate winning the League, over a long season?

| I agree not enough is done to recognise the achievement, but what do we do?
I wanted us to win the LLS so badly last year because i thought it meant something, but i'll be honest the whole playoff system and the way we went out just leaves me feeling...pah.
I don't care about being top, just top 3 now.
In fact given a choice it's second every time now.
The club call is just too much motivation for the other team.

| Yesterday just hightlighted the fact we do have strenght indepth. And Smith is not afraid to rotate the squad around. The youngsters will get better the more SL games they play.
Plus we do need to start planning for life after Briers..

Bit of both....Definitely too many sides in the league - 10 would be ample.....The play-offs should be 5 sides max.
This definite gulf in class between top and bottom does nothing positive for the game. With the top clubs now brazenly resting groups of players for games with lesser clubs, in anticipation of more competitive matches, it can only lead to diminishing crowds and interest as a whole for the league campaign.
As a non-season ticket holder, what incentive was there for me to go to yesterday's match, when its apparent that the coach views the match as a 'lesser' game?......Yes, I can watch the 'future' of the club at work, but I have to pay full whack for it?????
I fully back the blooding of youngsters, but in the numbers and regularity that Wire and others are doing it, it is coming across as an insult to the competition as a whole.
