That explains the guys devine right to swan around like he owns the joint, make woefully inaccurate claims in the press and generally talk absolute nonsense.
The amount of council involvement in the club also isn't healthy if you ask me.

| Incidentally can I just state that Tony Smith is definitely NOT the man for Warrington after what happened at the World Cup.
We need to go for the RIGHT man for this job and not just a name certain board members might think is the top man. I hope they have learned their lesson from signing the 'best centre in the world', Matt King.
Hanley might be a option but I wonder if he is still current enough in his methods and wonder how long he would be prepared to stick around.

I totally agree, Tony Smith is not the right man for us.
We do indeed need a Hanley type coach, a strict discliplinarian who wont tolerate the alcoholism and general poor discipline that has plagued this club for decades.
If Hanley would commit himself completely then the board should get him in and support him 110%.
If not then we need to unearth another coach of a similar vein.

I beg to disagree, Saints recognised this guys failings and used the 'betting affair' as an excellent excuse to offload the troubled star.
Looking back Saints well and truly had our pants down and were laughing all the way to the bank.
The signing of Gleeson must surely go down as one of the biggest failures that this club has witnessed and it cost us (Moran) £150k
Geordies comments on cover ups and disciplinary issues could be linked to what I have said, no?

They mean the same thing and you know it.
Saying

Is congruent with saying

If you don't think he is bad for the club, then why did you say 'the sooner he goes the better'?

| Just to clear thing up, he isn't bad for the club but if he ran the club better he would be great for the club.
By me saying the sooner he goes the better im meaning he isn't running the club as well as he should be and were not really making any progress.

| The thing about SJM is that he's made his money in the business of Music promotion, which I'd assume requires a bit of boot licking, on both parties.
I doubt many Promoters would be too over bearing when dealing with bands, as they could probably go and find someone else who would book them for a show. Similarly, I don't see too many bands getting too uppy with their promoter, certainly none with the reputation of SJM Concerts, as they could easily get AN Other band to sell out the proposed venue.
Where this leaves us is with a very pally-pally Majority shareholder. It was never uncommon to see him attend public functions with Paul Cullen (They were both sat in the VIP lounge together at the Arctic Monkeys gig at Old Trafford in 2007, for example), nor is it uncommon to hear of his genoristy and general nice-ness towards his associates.
IMO, this can create problems, as when it comes to making very important business decisions, he leaves himself with the task of making them at the expense of people who have become friends. When it came down to it, I felt Cullen had been Head Coach for too long and I genuinely believe that had their relationship not been as cosy as it was, Cullen would've been removed from the position of Head Coach sooner than he was.
The arguement made before about him being 'a fan with loads of money' to some extent is true. That doesn't neccersarily make him right or wrong for the job, what we can judge that upon is his decision making whilst in his position of power, which for the main part has let him down IMO.
As for the arguement that he saved the club; I certainly don't recall the bailifs banging down the door at the time of his appointment. Though, was he already on the board for a while before becoming majority shareholder, or did he come in from 'the outside'? I genuinely can't recall.
One final point, to the poster (I forget who it was) who said that Doug Hoyle single handedly secured the HJ Stadium needs to have a long hard look at themselves in the mirror and show a bit of respect to the many, many people who helped that campaign, not least Peter Deakin.

Yes but i never used the words single handedly in any of my post's, Mark M used that terminology not me, you also don't know what was in the PM and im telling you again that i didn't use single handedly in that either.
Please read properly before going of on one.

| I've never really understood the whole 'sack the board' mentality. I agree that they have made some bad decisions, but it is up to them to fix them.
We don't really know what kind of input they have on a daily basis, people say that Moran makes the signings, yet we don't actually know how it works. Does the manager tell Moran who he wants, and then he goes and gets them? Or is it more like Lindsy used to be at Wigan? We don't really know.
Similarly, Hoyle gets a lot of stick, and again, we don't really know what he does.
It is clear that they have made a bad selection with Lowes, and they are now in a difficult position, especially if the rumours of a new coach next year are true.
I think there was a general opinion that Lowes wasn't the right man for the job, but did anybody think things would really be this bad, because I certainly didn't?
I don't know what they can do to rescue this season, but if they do have Tony Smith signed up for next year, then I will be very happy, and it will explain some of the decisions they have made.
If Smith isn't signed up, then we are in a very bad position, and we need to get a new long term manager in asap.
I'm not sure Moran leaving needs to be part of any remedail action.

So 'Hoyle got us the stadium, nobody else' isn't the same as saying that 'Hoyle got us the stadium single Handedly'?

No it isn't
There were other people involved of course but the people who were involved with the club made no difference what so ever in getting the stadium passed by the planners.
That was down to Hoyle and a few of his mates.
