| I'm usually suffering from withdrawal symptoms at this time of the year, chomping at the bit...but this year, sadly nothing.

| I miss biff and attacking flair I must say. But I'll watch our games on Sky and go to the big derbies etc as usual. RL doesn't owe me anything, nor me it.

| Season needs to be shorter - aligning with the NRL. We’d all be very ready for some rugby in March. Rather than freezing January when the internationals went on til November.

| At least we can look forwards to the overall match day package, the wire flyer, Wolfie, winding up Hull on twitter.

| Looking forward to seeing a couple of the new signings. The Widdop injury is majorly disappointing. Although I can’t genuinely say I’m excited for the season to begin, rather apathetic towards it really especially the relegation form at the back end of the season.

Aside from Widdop, injury permitting, and the BR/prop from Wigan who might make the bench, I don't expect to see any of the new signings unless you plan to watch the reserves.
I fear we'll still see Hughes at centre rather than the new lads, and Mamo fumbling his way along at FB should Stef be sidelined ....... and [ithat[/i is why my expectations remain modest bordering terminal.

| I can see Matty Ashton being used as a stick to bash Price with this season.
Young, from the Championship, raw pace - ticks all the populist boxes.
If he doesn't play and we go with Ratchford or Mamo: why does Price not want to give this lad a chance, he tore up the Championship and he could be the x factor we need in SL?
If he does play and doesn't set the world on fire: this lad had real pace in the Championship, why has our fitness regime just focused on bulking him up and taken away his pace?

Damned if you do, damned if you don't. I can't see much changing, I'm not overly bothered about the upcoming season even though I got the season ticket out of habit. I find the round robin tedious and I'd just like to see another two come into the league (but that's another thread). I'm disappointed with recruitment this year. Let's hope this rolled ankle will be the last of Widdop's troubles this year.
Soon be Wigan away!

I completely agree. It would address the issue facing Toronto with a closed pitch and rubbish holidays in Perpignan in February!

| Saints or Wigan will be named champions, what are the rest of us fighting for?
Gone are the days when it really could be Warrington’s year, when Leeds could put on a dazzling show, when Castleford and Huddersfield were on the up and adding some new spice to the top of the table.

Unlike the glory days of the 1980s and 1990s, when you didn't have to worry that it might be Saints.
At the start of every season you thought, I wonder who will be walking round Wembley with the cup, celebrating a double, while they play Simply the Best, and the commentators talk about whether this year was the greatest achievement yet given the fixture pile up in the last 3 weeks.
