It's a clear a message to Russell. Someone who has been out of the game for 18 months has been slotted straight into the squad and he's not had a sniff. I do agree with Karetaker, i dont think he'll be in the 17.

Yep. A long time overdue too, should never have had 95 games in a Wire shirt. Rest assured if Smith was still here he would be firmly in the 17 and Charnley would have been signed by another team.

I'd keep the same starting 13 if they are all available and put Charnley on the bench.
He'll get on hell of a reception when he comes on.

I'd be shocked if Charnley didn't play now if he's named in the squad. Makes no sense to include him otherwise.

Surely Charnley will play. He is a winger ... not a massive difference apart from you get even less ball/space in Union. When Brian Carney switched back to RL he was much older. No problems for Josh ... get him in.
