| FFS, a thread on injuries, now we're hitting a slump. Are we Wigan in disguise?
Ladies and Gents, can I take you back to a time when I used to buy match day programmes.
Cast your mind back to that great night in 1989, when we THRASHED the newly crowned "World Champs" in a LCCSF. In his notes, Brian Johnson wrote "injuries are a fact of life. You have to deal with them".
This is why we have a squad.
The only "serious" problems in the original list are
Sandow....imminant return, and to the same extent, Dwyer
Hughes and Penny....both been in great form
and we only lost Russell yesterday.
The rest we've learnt to live with.
This drop in results is not down to injury, only lack of attitude/effort.
Let's not turn into a bunch of bitter pie-eaters.

No one is bitter but the problem with injuries is two fold:
1 - When they happen, the resultant shuffle on the field disrupts the play and too much results in plan a & b thrown out of the window
2 - Squad players are not the level of first pick team. Penny would not have dropped the ball yesterday as Ormsby did with the try line open. We was 10 - 0 I think at the time before the Russell breakaway.
No surprise Cas are starting to play better and Hudds when the numbers are coming back. Does anyone think that Leeds are seriously that bad they should be bottom?? Watch them when they get healthy. They will rip the lower 8's to bits and make a farce out of it. All I am saying is that we are not healthy and other teams around us are in better nick so we need to hang on until we get bodies back. Sandow, Atkins and Evans will be a start. Hughes is a big loss for us presently.

| As lefty says, injuries are a fact of sporting life. As well as the match he recalls, we again played Widnes in a semi during their pomp years in the Regal in 1991, the year we won it. On that day we were awash with injuries, had players out of position and no-one (including us, in fact especially us) gave us a chance yet we won it at the death.
As well as being a curse, injuries also represent an opportunity for squad players to stake a claim. With that in mind I'm a little disappointed that some fringe players haven't either been [igiven[/i the chance to prove their worth or made it impossible for TS to ignore them.

| I don't blame the liss on injuries the team looked like they had them beat at one point so should have been good enough to get the win.
I do believe that the inability to rest and rotate has had an effect on us tho and players are looking jaded but on the positive side it's leeds next sothat should give the lads some confidence!!

| On twitter Dwyer had some new boots delivered and he hoped that he was going to be able to put them on this weekend???
We need to look at recruitment again, we could do with more less injury prone players like Sims!

| I think Patton will be fit before Week 21.
Dwyer is almost certainly back this week thankfully.

| Yes we should look to sign.wolverine or deadpool!! Or put in their contracts they are not allowed to get injured
Think we have only brought in wheeler who is injury prone! Who if is fit and on form is 10 x the centre Evans is!! So the risk or gamble would be worth it! I fear he will be gone at seasons end!!
Dodds has had a knee injury his current injury is a freak injury and not related to previous injuries. Ppl seem to forget that it's a contact sport and tho collisions today are a lot heavier than they used to be in general. What we need is to be able to spend. Money on a squad that can cope with injuries and for there nor to be such a big gap in quality between starting 17 and the squad's players that's restricted by the salary cap

| Guardian suggesting Sandow is in contention for this weekend. Good news also on Russell who isn't as bad as first feared. Still be out for 2-3 weeks though.

| Don't think we will need sandow against leeds, I'd prefere him 100% ready rather than pit back in early in a game we should win comfortably without him

I don't think the cub would risk him unless he was 100% ready. If Chrissy plays his week it will be because he is 100% ready.

I would hope so and if we were playing better or getting the results I would agree but we need a win and a loss to leeds will have huge effect on confidence and can u imagine the reaction if the do beat us. The kind of injury he has had needs to be 110% fixed there are many instances of players having the same injury reoccure shortly after they are back to fitness. More so in.football but it's probably a morecommin injury in football than rugby.
Our season does not hinge on.the next game but it does hinge on having key players fully fit leading into the top8s and putting them at unnecessary risk atthis point of his recovery is dangerous, I believe widnes in cc is a more realistic target for his return. Two weeks full training to gain confidence orbit again n.get some fitness back will do him and us no harm.
He'll I believe we should also be resting gidley against leeds also, for me this is a game we should be looking to give some if the fringe players a chance, imagine the confidance it will give them potentially/probably beating leeds?? That's worth the risk for me if available.
