| Both Carvell and Mossop are far more deserving of a spot in this England team than Peacock. Jamie's had a relativley average season to be kind, where as Gareth and Lee have both been the stand out props for their clubs, and possibly the comp.

He used to be one of the best props on any continent but is now a shadow of what he used to be had no impact on the game today but as far as I'm concerned England should move on from him and use the better props like Crabtree and Carvell even Harrison !
Also if Mac the Muppet plays that same team as today the Aussie will teach them a lesson I'd put Sinfield back at loose fwd Highington in the second row Widdop in the halves and have a bench of Morley , Carvell, Westwood and Crabtree and when Roby needs a rest move Sinfield to hooker and Highington to loose fwd
Don't understand why he insists on playing players out of position and has JJB anywhere in the team !'"
Phew for a minute then when I saw your headline I thouight it was this years Rhino for wire big story

| Averages 115 meteres a games 29 tackles and 17 hit ups a game. He's still good enough to compete at this level and when well yesterday along with the other front rowers. I'd have Carvell in place of Wilkin on the bench though.

| Carvell has to be selected next week ahead of JJB or Wilkin. He'll punch holes in any defence and get us rolling forward.
Mossop should have been in the squad. He's a terrific player and is only going to get bigger and better. We have 2 international competitions before the world cup and he needs some exposure before that.

| Lets face it the Aussies will bitch slap us whether Peacock plays or whoever everybody's club favourite is.
The fault will be blamed on McNamara just like it was Tony Smith's fault for picking guys like Paul Sykes and Calderwood ahead of everyones favourites.
I agree Peacock and Morley will probably only be around for a couple of seasons but they can hopefully hang on till Josh Perry and Jeff Lima meet the residency requirements.

| Peacock and Morley don't deserve to be playing at international level. It says it all that players like that are still selected. There really isn't anyone obviously better they could call up.
Roby, Graham, Westwood and Ellis are the only real quality England have in the pack. It's a myth that we've got a pack to compete with the Aussies.

your kidding right? why would you put roby one of if not the best hooker in the world on the bench im sure the aussies will put slater on the bench and just bring him on as a impact player, you play your best team and IMO the team is built around roby he is prob the first name on the team sheet without a doubt

| Peacock has more left in the tank, and has been better in the last half of the season, than Morley, fwiw. It's by the by because they're both still two of our best four props.
The problem is that if they're both on the field at the same time they replicate each other, faults included. It's pretty simple that they should spell each other playing approx. 40 minutes each and keeping fresh and energetic. Then have Graham playing for 55-60 minutes with Carvell spelling him. It beggars belief that Carvell is not on the bench in front of Wilkin. JJB probably isn't international class either, but at least he runs and hits hard.

| Mr Mac seems to relish playing players out of position, we are never going to compete with the Aussies if we we don' play players in there specialist roles. Also why are we not bringing the young English players through, most can't even get in the squad, and to add insult to injury he ends up playing a reject Kiwi stand off at scrum half and a loose forward at stand off, wheres is Myler who had a great game against the French in the warm up game, and how about the young half back paring from Saints. I have no problem with the English players who play in the ARL, that can add some insight to how the Aussies play. This constant playing players out of position though makes for a disjointed side and is never going to get us any where. The game against the Welsh gave a very flattering score and at times the welsh pack gave us a good game, I'm afraid the Aussies and Kiwis will give use a lesson in Rugby League and show us playing players in the right positions is the way to go.

Agree with this 100%, the last 2 months of the season showed that Peacock still has it. The rest of the thread goes from somewhere between tosh and common sense

Apparantly, having an impact hooker works in the game of rugby league. Especially if the afore-mentioned impact hooker is as good as Roby. Sinfield is out-and-out quality and has played starting hooker many times before in his career, both at club and international level. When your playing the best side in the world, you need strength from 1-17.
As for your analogy of Slater being left on the bench.... your being a little silly. Impact full-backs don't tend to exist. Fail.

How far into the past would you like to go.
How about the last game of the Superleague season, at Old Trafford, just a few weeks ago.
Peacock's stats
Tackles... 32
Missed Tackles... 1
Carries... 27
Metres...198
Errors... 1
Penalties... 1
Or compare the season's stats for Peacock and CarvellPeacock
Carries per game...17.7
Metres per game...115.6
Tackles per game...29.2
Carvell
Carries per game...12.1
Metres per game...91.46
Tackles per game...23.2
Better stats despite the fact that JP took some time getting back up to speed after a long and serious injury lay-off.
I know stats aren't the 'be all and end all' and I rate Carvell as a great player, but don't let your club bias blind you from the obvious fact that Peacock is still one of the most consistent English forwards in the world.

Lomax is injured. Tomkins is 22, Hall 23, Reed 23, Yeaman 28, and Briscoe 22(?)
Plus Widdop, BJB, Cudjoe and Carl Ablett. In fact there's only 5 players over 30 in the squad. Plus when you add the likes of Burgess, and Lomax out injured the squad has a fairly young look to it.

| Exactly.
The thing people forget about blokes like Briscoe and Hall is they're still very young, they've just been around a while. You hear some harping on about Riley one day being a great player whereas these guys are younger and already far superior.
